  1. Heres an odd one. Under heavy braking oil pressure drops, basically to zero if its from a high enough speed. Plenty of oil, including overfilling it. Checked the dipstick against my other Stag. All ok too. Is this a known issue, ie cracked pick up pipe etc? Any ideas? Is there baffling in the sump on these?
  2. Just got cracking with some prep tonight. Lots of parts to swap off old stag onto the new one. CV shafts and prop, calipers, rear drums, LED headlights etc, etc, And fit my Federal headrests. Going to be a busy weekend.
  3. Im with these two ^^^^^^^ Tinkering round the edges is going to happen. Totally changing the event however is something else entirely.
  4. Yes me!! I can only describe it as outstanding. (stag) Of course, not all LED lamps are made equal. Much research done. I bought the extra expensive ones from these guys. No complaints at all. http://www.dynamoregulatorconversions.com/ Websites a bit hard work though............
  5. Another check point is more stuff for Tim and friends to organise. And more marshalls. In the middle of the night. Im more than capable of deciding to stop at a sevices, or even a lay by which we did 3 times on the run down to Lands end. At the risk of sounding like an old git, the way it used to be with NO stops between Gordano and Lands end, often allowed an early arrival at Lands end and if so, a good couple of hours of sleep in a stationary car. I cant speak for others but i found this really useful. Of course dense fog on the M5 puts paid to that........................ Cant remember the year, but that was no fun!
  6. So, off at 50, A61 to Skipton on Swale, then A167 up to Darlington, short bit of A67 then pick up the A68 as planned. Anyone have a view on this????
  7. On the last round britain run, someone did a sat nav file for the actual route. This was most excellent and certainly helped us, allowing more sleeping time. Has anyone done one for this years event? And if so, would they be willing to share????
  8. CW 1 inch lowering springs all round and Konis. Rimmers still have stock of Konis (or they did). Just a fantastic set-up. Did the 1CR on this. Very composed, but not hard or uncomfortable. The Konis are expensive, no doubt, but you can tell. Had spax on the rear of the estate. They were OK, thats about all i can say. Konis next time when its back on the road.
  9. Entered. With the Stag. Though it would be great to do it in the Sprint again, which i did the 1990 run in, and the subsequent 4. Prob a big ask though
  10. I think you maybe over analysing this. From here it looks to be under control. As mentioned above, your current fan switching suggests you are trying to control it to too narrow a window. Because you now have data, you are seeing things that the rest of us are oblivious too. Dead handy though to fault find if you do have a problem.
  11. Recently fitted a pertronix to a 2500S. It doesn't get any easier. Had one on my dodge charger for a few years too. No complaints at all.
  12. Ive got the 1 inch lowering coils from Chris Witor, Koni shocks all round and my lovely new contis. At no point on the 10CR could i get it to understeer or oversteer, even when being downright silly. Bear in mind that if you have too much bar, it may well corner flat but you might get more understeer if you cant load the front tyre enough. And you will also reduce compliance on poor roads. I was very pleased with the simple mods on my stag, and, after the 10CR, cant see any reason to change it. And thats from a born tinkerer! Dont under estimate how much of a difference a decent set of shocks can make. The Konis ARE expensive, but they are good.
  13. Never mind, your not on your own! Same here. Despite months of work, i still have a torque convertor that isn't quite right. Just hope it hangs together. See ya there
  14. 10.25101 Thanks Howard, most useful. Didn't realise i could pull the maps from the sat nav!! I think Garmin want to rival Apple for the most useless instructions. Sadly, due to the cars incessant unreliability, ive only got from now to wednesday morning to do anything, and ive got 2 14 hour days of work between now and then. Ive done a few checks of the nav file that Andy sent out, and it seems to take you the right way, but i cant check it all. But between this and a physical map with roads missing(!) hopefully i'll get round. Im more worried about the car than getting lost.
  15. Can i ask how you are getting that level of detail on base camp? Mine foesn't have the smaller roads on it. Have you upgraded to birds eye? Or the google maps option (though how you make that work is one of many mysteries of Garmin related products)
  16. What "real" maps are people? using. Ive got the largest scale one available, but a lot of the roads in the book are too small to even feature on said map (phillips multiscale one). Which rather complicates using said map. Bit stumped on that.
  17. Thanks for the heads up. turns out its a 35 bell housing. Rimmers had one, so a 6am start this morning saw me at rimmers just after 8:30. Then back to work to fit it. Had to modify it too, the same as the old one. All back and fitted now. The original issue if vibration with the convertor in lock up now gone, but the new one is just out of balance. Anything above 3000 rpm, even in neutral causes vibration. More pressing still, is after giving it a good work out the power steering pulley (on the crank) is loose. But the bolt is still fully tight......................... How does that happen? So back to work tommorow to strip all that lot out.
  18. Fitting LHD headlights. Surely, it cant be any easier on most of our cars. Just 3 screws abd swap them over?
  19. But your original is not well? Ive checked my breakdown cover..........................................
