  1. I've also got a set of new hollow pushrod I have had laying around for about 15 years. Is there any point in using these or stick with the standard ones. Danny
  2. Thanks Pete. That clears that up. Where I looked it listed for all spit engines. Danny
  3. Hi, Just took delivery of a new 1300 ground camshaft for the 1500 Spit, and will be now buying followers and gaskets for my next winter project. My question is on the followers. Standard and ones with drilled holes etc. But what are the small diameter ones for ? Danny
  4. Just ordered mk3 grind cam from Canleys. None in stock at moment but not needed until next winter. Planning ahead. Will order followers and gaskets during the year. Danny
  5. When timing my 1500 cam. I did it with tappets 8 & 9 on the rock at TDC by using feeler gauges. I take it you can't do this with a mk3 grind as the inlet and exhaust are not opening and closing at the same degrees. Am I correct in thinking this. Danny
  6. I have a Garmin DC mini camera on my modern. Very happy with it, takes 64k card. Not got one on the spit yet, but the motorcycle one looks good and wouldn't be noticed. Danny
  7. How about some pictures of the car (cover up number plate) may get some idea how much work is needed. Danny
  8. Thought I'd take the Spit for the first outing this year. Its a 2 1/2 hour run from me so will blow the cobwebs off. Danny
  9. Is it Friday. Only it says Thursday 10th in the header which I suspect is a typo. Don't want to turn up on wrong day. Danny
  10. That rubber seal on the diagram seems to go quite deep. My seal is till there but looks a lot shorter. Doesn't seem to do much. Perhaps worn or some previous owner trimmed it back. Danny
  11. Well impressed with mine when it undid my crank nut. Danny
  12. Thanks Tim, I was thinkinsomethingike that. About the only thing that would allow the gearleaver to move and still seal. Like you say, the heat is a big problem also in the summer. Danny
  13. Having just fitted my gearbox back into the spit. I've put beck the plastic tunnel with all its soundproof matting which makes it nice and rigid, but does it really cut the sound because the flaw in the design is the hole for the gear leaver. Big hole thats only covered by a leather gator. Has anyone tackled this and how. Danny
  14. I will not be taking part this years RBRR as I do not believe I could raise enough for the charity. So I would not want to take the place of someone who could. At the moment the whole family and my friends are trying to raise money for a small charity due to something that has affected my niece and I cannot bring myself to ask for more support when many are struggling financially. I wish all entrants a safe and enjoyable run and hope the fundraising for the Huntington's charity goes well. Danny
  15. Amy your right of course. In fact I only read about that a few days ago. Then quickly forgot 😁 Danny
  16. The whole car looks a mismatch of parts. Wrong dash, seats, engine bay, bonnet etc. Got a bit of all the marks. Nice car but ridiculous price. Danny
  17. Paying for the finishing trophy at the end is a great idea. Especially if like my last RBRR you don't finish. Money saved 🤣 Danny
  18. What about hiring a bike trailer. No problem taking that abroad. Danny
  19. Not had it apart. It's only a few years old. I think I will fit it with spline at the diff end this time as its impossible to grease or tighten up the cap unless I remove the exhaust. Danny
  20. It locks solid, well to the point I cannot slide it by pushing down with all my weight. Just wondered because I've always had a knocking from back of gearbox, when I took it off ther was a slight play that felt like uj play. But when tightened slightly the play went. Does it matter what way round this goes. Can I pit the slider at the diff end. Danny
  21. The cap on the slider is not fully done up. If I do then it becomes solid. Should it be done up tight once on the car or should there be some play.
  22. Second hand on ebay A bargain at £40. You just don't see them anymore. They are about £100 from Rimmers. Danny
  23. I bent one of my hubs many years ago, using the wrong type of puller. Never noticed until a lorry driver sain my back wheel was wobbling. Swapped wheels and still wobbling. Sourced a good second hand one and brought the correct puller. Danny
  24. I've also been told that if a door is re-Skined it can mishap the door if not done right. I know my drivers door on the spit was done before I took ownership through the history file, and that sticks out a little at the bottom. Danny
  25. I like a bit uf suspense 😋
