  1. rear flitch panels are different on the mk1 / mk2 ( inner inner bowls ) as bulkheads differ, but near enough the same at the sill end as makes no difference.
  2. i just read that posting back, to clarify, i mean an external oil feed to no"s 1 & 2 on the crank via the allen key grub screws on the block.
  3. hi all, a topic that has been on my mind for a long time now, external oil feed. i use my mk2 pi every day, its fitted with a rebuilt 2000 lump at present, with a spin on filter and oil cooler, that has done about 20k miles, and is how it was when i brought it 4 years ago. the engine is faultless day in and day out, and has fantastic oil pressure, 50- 55 at idle when hot and 65 -70 at higher revs, also when hot !!! now most days i travel up and down caerphilly mountain, and its a steep ole thing, and i always keep an eye on the oil pressure gauge as i do so, as i cannot believe how much it moves in relation to whether you are going up or down the mountain !!!!!!!! going up, the pressure can drop as low as 45 and you can hear the crank waining / knocking wanting oil, and going down with the auto box in 2nd and no throttle can rise to 80 - 85 !!! so is there any more proof needed that our straight six engines need an external oil feed to at least numbers 1 & 2 !!!!!!! easy enough to sort out an external feed if you have the spin on filter on your engine, SO the question is, does anyone do an external feed kit, ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO GET ONE FROM, as i dont have the time to make one from scratch at the mo ?? DAVE HARVEY, a nice little project for you to sort out for us perhaps   ;) ;) lloyd
  4. thanks for your kind words guys !! in ref to richards comments, i have had many a meeting with the company that does the stag panels for the stag tooling fund guys, and seen the tooling, and as you said richard, the price has been amortised over the years, and the chap i used to deal with kept saying that they are far to cheap and that the price needed to be increased, but over the years never has for whatever reason, bread and butter money ??? now that company has lost thier press im not sure what will happen now regarding thier panels, as the rubber tooling that does the rear quarter panels needs a huge tonnage press !!! as for the heritage front wing, and i stand to be corrected on this ?, but that uses original tooling, SO NO tooling costs have to be incorporated into the unit selling costs AND they are still dearer than mine ????????? with half the outlay ???? in ref to teds comments, the voice of reason and common sence as usual  :) in ref to nic"s comments, YOU HAVE HIT THE NAIL RIGHT ON THE HEAD !!!! and it is what myself and other owners and members with foresight have been trying to get across to all owners. why should i spend hundreds of thousands of pounds on something there probably wont be a market for in 5-10 years time unless people pledge thier support and orders now, but the majority of owners wont pledge to buy the panels now because thier car doesnt need them at present and thats fair enough and i totally understand that, as people have more important things to spend thier hard earned wages on in these hard times,  but it leaves me with the dilema of shall i or shant i ?? what i will say in regards to when my panels hit the market is : it will stop our cars being worth not much more than scrap value, will get all those cars that are in storage or left rotting dragged out and back on the road and will simply increase the value of our cars as people will now know they are worth buying and saving as the panels are available to get them back on the road !!!!!! sounds great in a perfect world doesnt it, and it is what should happen, e,g, 3 out of my 4 cars are awaiting these panels to enable them to be back on the road, so im sure loads more are in the same boat as me, BUT its still a huge financial outlay for me and a huge risk, BUT i love our cars for whatever mad reason that may be !? and i will do my utmost to ensure the survival of them !! I STILL HAVE THE PANEL LIST I STARTED NEARLY 2 YEARS AGO NOW WITH ALL YOUR RESPECTIVE NAMES ON IT REGARDING THE PANELS YOU WANTED, AND I STILL HAVE WEEKLY REQUESTS FOR PANELS, so if you are thinking or wavering about buying your car a new panel, get in touch with me AND NOT JUST FOR MK2 FRONT WINGS, AS THE LIST FOR OTHER PANELS IS NUMBEROUS ALSO. please remember i want to be doing every panel we need for both mk"s of cars over the next few years, but i need your input and HELP / PLEDGES TO DO THAT. I COULD RAMBLE ON FOR AGES REGARDING THIS TOPIC , BUT ALL THAT NEEDS TO BE SAID IS, NO PANELS equals NO TRIUMPH 2000/2.5PI/2500 MK1 OR MK2 LEFT ON THE ROAD within 10 years
  5. hi again everyone, can i just clarify something, as most do not understand the process of making a panel. it has been mentioned to me, that £325 is a bit expensive for what is nearly a full front wing, not at all the case, and i have put next to nothing on top to help pay off the tooling costs, BUT  if you buy a pair of wings at the cost of £650 and put that against the market value of the car they are going on ( avarage £2-3 k ) than YES i guess they do seen a tad expensive ?? but to get made small quanity runs of panels, the cost is what it is, i cant do anything about that, its just the way it is. the way these tools are made, in regards to the size of panel they are making, makes no difference to the costs, i.e a wheel arch repair tool cost the same as the tool for the near full wing i am doing, so there is no point making just the wheel arch repair as it would still cost £325 !! its all very indepth and i simply cant explain it all via this posting as it would ramble on for pages and pages. the ONLY time panel size has a bearing on the tooling costs, is if you have 3 part draw tools made, in that case a wheel arch tool would be cheaper than a full wing tool, but as a draw tool for a wheel arch cost in the region of 25 thousand pounds ( inc units ) for one side, and most of you would only expect to pay £125 for said arch, i would never get my money back, and be hundreds of thousands of pounds out of pocket by the time i did all the panels i intend doing, so draw tools are a non starter, PLUS there is no lesser quality with the tools i am using, so its a no brainer. please dont think this posting is a rant, as its not, it is just to help explain and get across to you all, what is involved, and believe you me the way i am doing this IS the cheapest way and without losing quality. if any of you have questions, thoughts or ideas, PLEASE feel free to ring me and i will be more than happy to explain more indepth about it all. as usual, thanks for all your support and good wishes as i couldnt make this happen without you !! lloyd
  6. hi all, i havent long got off the phone to the manufacturer, and need your help. as you are aware, i have changed manufacturers as the other one was impossible to deal with, the only down side to this from my perspective, is that they were supplying me with the nos panels i needed. i have most of the panels i require already for this panel venture, but i am short an o/s mk2 front wing, and as they are first on the list to be made, I NEED ONE ! SO IF ANYONE HAS A GOOD SALVAGED ONE OR BETTER STILL AN NOS ONE THEY ARE WILLING TO SELL ME, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP PLEASE. should i get one asap, i can have production underway by around feb / march next year, the panel will be as i have stated before, a 90% full wing, i.e finishing on the top bonnet edge return, so nearly a full wing for £325 !!!!!! i simply cant afford to sell them for cheaper than that. ( members price only ) the quality will be as nos, as to me that is paramount, there is no point in producing a panel that is , ill fitting and takes loads of manhours to fit and fettle, defeats the object and just increases costs !! IF YOU CAN HELP, PLEASE email ME AT lloyd.reed01@virgin.net or call on 07920796802 the remanufacture of these panels is dependant on the quanity of orders i recieve to justify it, so thanks to all for placing thier orders and monies already, but i could do with more please !!! many thanks
  7. swift update, i know i said i would post the outcome of the meeting with the manufacturer that i had on the 10th, but i am still in talks with them on the best / most cost effective way of doing this. i havent forgotten you all, i promise, and will inform you asap as to what the outcome is. lloyd
  8. hi all, since returning from my meeting with the manufacturers i have been seriously been crunching numbers. from the start of this panel quest, i always expected to take a loss on the first batch of panels, and claw it back with the second batch, the simple reason for that is, i would need to sell the panels for around £700 each to get my money back on the first batch, and no one would pay this understandably, so what i need are numbers of cars left to see if there will be a second batch !!! ive spent over the last 8 years or so around 12 thousand man hours doing and researching all this and i am sure the cars are out there, but i need to be sure. i know i can go on " how many are left " but thier numbers are wrong, as 3 out of my 4 cars are not on there so im sure its the same for a huge amount of other cars. so what i need from you all, in particular club officials that have members car numbers on record, im not asking for names or any personal info, just car numbers, but that will only be a rough indication as alot of us are members of both clubs or more, so there will be duplications this is a huge task to find these numbers im looking for worldwide, but ive gotta find out, so if you all could just make a short posting just saying how many cars you have and mk1 or 2, that would be a start and let me know of any others you know of that wont see this posting. thats another half hour added to the 12 k   THANKS ALL
  9. hi all, just an update, i will have news on the mk2 fronts after my meeting with the manufacturer on fri 10th oct.
  10. hi all, just had a phone call from the manufacturer, the sills will be ready and posted out to me on the 4th august, so should arrive with me on the 6th aug. i will let you all know when they arrive. lloyd
  11. here you go andy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mintex-Front-Brake-Pads-TRIUMPH-STAG-3-Targa-145PS-70-77-/370674630187?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3ATriumph&hash=item564dedfe2b there are other racing grades available, but the price goes up lloyd
  12. im not sure i am richard, being the bearer or bad news  :B :B :o tim, that is life im afraid to say, but as the saying goes, something thats worth having is worth fighting for, and believe you me, im fighting to get all these panels of mine done, and i bloody well will do  :) :) :)
  13. guys had a long rant at the manufacturer doing the sills today as they told me they wont be ready for at least another TWO weeks, to say that im pissed off is an understatement !!!!! sorry all, but its out of my hands, and no amount of ranting at them, is gunna speed things up !!! lloyd
  14. cheers andy,  i wont be doing the fronts for a while though, not until richards nos full wings are exhausted, drop him a line and he will be able to sort you out. lloyd
  15. hi all, i have had many members and non members asking me to crack on with the mk1 rear n/s wheel arch quarter panel. could everyone that is interested, please post on here or contact me and i will see just how much interest there is for me to do them asap. thanks guys onward and upward !!
  16. COPY OF REGISTER POSTING lloyd, Just a few thoughts! What plan/method is in place to help those financially unable to order now but may have some spare wonga at a later date? Not viable I would think to re-setup the tooling for one or two off's? Have any of the tier 1 suppliers taken any stock? regards, Kev hi ya kev, sorry boyo, i told you in the pm i sent you that i was going to make a posting regarding your questions, totally forgot, lifes manic at the mo, thats my excuse anyway, and im sticking to it !   no one has taken stock of any panels, simply because chris witor is passing any of his clients on to me as he is up to his neck in other remanufactured items, and i didnt know of any other stockists that would be interested apart from maybe the " largest " supplier , and i wont deal with them, for reasons many have posted about !!! and i thought with the orders i have taken, the markets thirst had been quenched for a while. as with ALL the panels i will be / am doing, the way forward is to simply contact me regarding what ever panel you want, i will add you all to that panel list, and when req numbers are reached, i will place an order. until i claw back some / most of the tooling costs for whatever panel, unfortunatly this is the only way to do it, as for now, keeping on the shelf stock is another outlay for me of thousands of pounds, BUT in the not to distant future, i will take stock once the bite of the tooling costs is soaked up a bit. so for those wanting panels, just gimme a shout, but please bear in mind, all the manufacturers i am using, have a lead time of at least THREE months from placement of order. for any of you that are in need of sills that havent placed an order, if you contact me within the next TWO / THREE days, i could squeeze your order in. many thanks for your thoughts kev, please keep them comming, YOU CAN PLEASE SOME OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME, BUT YOU CANT PLEASE ALL OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME, but im trying my best  :D ONWARD AND UPWARD  :D   lloyd
  17. the pre production wing should be with me for checking over in around 6 weeks, will keep you all informed. lloyd
  18. hi guys, sill update. sills will be ready in approx two weeks, manufacturer will inform me of exact date in a week or so. for those that havent paid postage, i assume you are comming to collect, would you all be good enough to let me know please so i can make arrangements. many thanks lloyd
  19. hi everyone, i have had everybody chq"s , many thanks to all, ( just waiting on one ) and will be cashing them in the next few days. the response has been great, so thanks again, we can now all benefit from this and get the wings produced that we all want, and have waited for for so long :D the tooling route i have chosen, has changed slightly, as over the months as i have managed to purchase a pair of nos mk2 front wings at a cost of £1350 !!! this route still gives the same quality of panel as you are using the nos panel as a template, but with less outlay for me tooling wise, so im hoping to claw back my outlay within 6+ years now as opposed to 12+ years. i couldnt look at doing it this way before now, as the panels were kindly lent to me by members. the only drawback to doing it this way, is that i have to sacrifice one of each panel that i want making, but thats life and in the long run, it means less outlay for me, and we still end up with the quality panels that we need. i have done a deal with the manufacturer at an extra cost to me, although you will pay no more, and the wing will not now finish 5"s  above the wheel arch, but on the top edge return, as that is the natural place to joddle it in ( top edge of wing, bonnet level ), so really you are now getting a near enough full wing instead of a half wing for you hard earned dosh !!!!!! fit the whole thing, or cut it down to what you need, the choice is yours. i have the lower wing fixing brackets here, nos ones for £8 each, i have around 20 only, and when they are gone, the price to get them remanufactured is £15, so please bear this in mind, im looking into a price for getting the A post closure panel done, just a repair lower section ( about 3-4" tall ) as the tops never rot out, so anyone interested, please let me know, and i will get some done, around £30, although richard has some nos left, so give him a call i have the mk1 / estate rears here with me also when we are ready , so no worries there ! i do want to get the inner outer wheel arch bowls done asap, as for those of you buying the outer wings, are going to need them, im working on it as quick as i can and have one front mk1 and one mk2 rear here, but if any of you have some mk1 or mk2 front or rears that you wish to sell in order to help us all, please contact me. i will check which side of each i have asap, they are at the manufacturers and i simply cant remember. im having a mk2 front wing run off for me to inspect and give it the all clear / make any changes that are needed / not needed before i let the production run start, so all will be well !! ONWARDS AND UPWARDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lloyd
  20. my mk1 is facelift, it has the thinner discs ??
  21. right then, progress update. all went well with the two days of meetings i had, im glad to say. 1    i rang the manufacturer doing the sills, so anyone requiring sills that missed out, i have another three weeks to add to the order. ( mk1, mk2 outers with noses and middle strengtheners with noses ) 2    mk2 3/4 front wings are ready to go into production, but i could do with more orders to ease the burded of the tool costings !!!! closing date is the 3rd may. if i dont get a certain amount of orders that i deem enough to warrant the soaking up of some of the sting of the tooling costs, i will not proceed with them, as much i want to and as much as we all need them. we are talking vast sums of monies that i have to fork out and justify, so please just dont assume that you will " buy the wing you need a bit later when are are a bit flush " , as if the tooling is not made now and on this order run, it will never be, and we will all miss out and our beloved great cars will not survive !! if you know your car is going to need wings in the next year or so, try and dig deep and place an order now, in order to aid us all. i am doing all this panel stuff to save our cars, i cant do it without your help, simple as that !! the price i am charging in my mind is more than reasonable, take a look at what mk1 escort, anglia, cortina etc wings sell for, more that what i am asking for i know ! and the tooling for them is already made, so doesnt have to be soaked up in the selling costs !! the cost for buying one of our great cars has risen by at least 100% in the last 18 months, and " scrappers " even more than that, and i would like to think that is partly down to buyers knowing that panels are on the way to restore them, so once all my panels that i intend doing hit the open market, our car values will rise yet again, SO PLACING AN ORDER NOW IS NOT FALSE ECONOMY OR MONEY WASTED, ITS JUST PUSHING THE VALUE OF OUR CARS EVEN HIGHER, to where they bloody well should of been for years as far as i am concerned !! 3    mk1 front inner outer arch bowls 4    mk2 rear inner outer arch bowls this applies to numbers 3 & 4 as you are prob aware, ive had a price to get these remanufactured, as oe ones were, complete depth and length ( i.e front to back, so full length top to bottom ) not like the short ones the bros are selling, these came out at around £250 ish, in the meeting i had yesterday i discussed just getting them made to a depth of 2 1/2 to 3" as that is where thet normally rust out to, but still keeping them full length ( cant see the point other wise ! ), ball park is around £100, let me know what you think please, but after looking at the 4 cars i have here awaiting resto, 3 of them need the full depth ones, so i am a little unsure on how to proceed, your thoughts please !!? 5    mk1 & 2 front wing inner A post closure panels. im looking into a price for getting a lower repair section of these done, as the tops very rarely rot out, interest please before i delve deeper, im guessing around £30 6    boxes for the mk2 front wings. The price for these is just over £8 each and has been incorperated into the wing price, i did this simply because i guessed 99.9% of you will want them delivering, i cant change the wing price now for any wishing to collect as it just adds to and confuses my already massive workload ( panel wise or my normal day to day job ), but if you wish to collect your wing, you are more than welcome to take a box with you should you need it or not. crossing all the t"s and dotting all the i"s with this panel stuff is a minefield ive learnt, you can please some of the people some of the time but you cant please all of the people all of the time !!!!!!!!!!! 7    im glad to report, i spoke to the chap that brought the " hand painted " car off ebay last week, so it is in safe hands, its his first 2000,  it was hand painted as it was due to go on the track !!! he also brought the pale blue one with no glass as a spares car, and will keep whole and not break, so two more of our fab cars saved from the track  :D  :D 8    mk1 front lower valance, i have a price due next week, interest please ? 9    mk1 and all estate rear half wings are towards the top of the list now following the mk2 fronts, should i get enough orders, please let me know your interest   all the best triumph lovers lloyd
  22. hi all sorry for not posting for a while, life is mega manic ive just returned from two days traveling regarding the panels and other triumph related stuff ( all good   :) ) and will make a posting on the forums tomorrow after ive had some shut eye. lloyd
  23. hi guys, ive been asked by alot of members if i can extend the 3rd april date for the wings. i have had a conversation with the manufacturer, and confirmed that i am in the " queue " and adding to the order will not be a problem. SO THE CLOSING DATE WILL NOW BE 3RD MAY. i hope this helps lloyd
  24. hi mike, how true your words are !!!! as has been the case with alot of things regarding this quest for panels, the order form was drafted in a rush by myself, these copies were only sent out to about 3 people via email, you must of been one of the unlucky ones to of recieved my piece of old tat !!! since then, mike stevens kindly stepped in and did a " proper " order form on my behalf and has since done the wing one also, cheers mike ! many thanks for your offer mike anyway and thanks for the input, its always welcome and needed to help steer the ship on an even course shall we say. all the best lloyd   HI COLIN, ABOVE IS A COPY OF A CT POSTING FROM A FEW MINUTES AGO. i wish i hadnt mentioned the £2.50 to you guys   as i"d already written them off. on my piece of old tat called an order form, i kept the £2.50 separate from sill orders and delivery, it was a one off order cost per order, whether the order was for one panel or twenty. on the re drafted order form mike and i did, the £2.50 was incorporated into the delivery price, so you didnt miss it off colin as you told me when you gave me your cheque at the show that you would be collecting from me  :), BUT incorporating it into the delivery cost was a mistake on my part, as it means the £2.50 is nul and void or lost, for people that are collecting from me, its my mistake, end of. jee wizz this is hard work lmao, looks like ive dug a hole for myself. im a hands on guy and drafting documents as you all now can see, is not my strong point, i had accountants etc to do that on my behalf with my old company. getting things done and sorted and haggling with manufacturers and suppliers is much more to my liking !! ho hum, live and learn. SO TO ANY THAT HAVE THE NEW ORDER FORM, UNLESS THE £2.50 IS STATED SEPARATELY, YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY IT. lloyd     THIS IS A COPY OF REG POSTING
  25. hi mike, how true your words are !!!! as has been the case with alot of things regarding this quest for panels, the order form was drafted in a rush by myself, these copies were only sent out to about 3 people via email, you must of been one of the unlucky ones to of recieved my piece of old tat !!! since then, mike stevens kindly stepped in and did a " proper " order form on my behalf and has since done the wing one also, cheers mike ! many thanks for your offer mike anyway and thanks for the input, its always welcome and needed to help steer the ship on an even course shall we say. all the best lloyd
