  1. Hi All Have any of you guys fitted a new headlining to a GT6 which has a Webasto style roof fitted? I am confused as to where to start as I don't have the roof bars to take the weight or act as a point of reference for obvious reasons. Any good tips on how to hold the lining up before the adhesive is applied? Which corner should I start at etc? Thanks Bruce
  2. The dash is in  :) Still have the oil pressure gauge and clock to fit.

My wife saw me reading the thread again from the beginning and pointed out you had started only10 months ago(mine has been in pieces for 3 years) and also how tidy your garage and working area was!! (mine apparently is not!) So if you could please do me a favour and slow down and mess up your garage then that would be great!! Brilliant project and thanks for the motivation! Stephen Hi Stephen Your posting had me chuckling ;D My wife would like to point out that 10months is way too long and that she believes that I need to get my finger out and finish her car so she can use it before all this superb weather is over. In the m eantime she keeps borrowing my Stag :( She would also like to point out to your wife that she suffered for 2.5 years with a house full of car parts whilst I restored the Stag. This is one reason why she was so keen on me renting a workshop to do the GT6 this time. Good luck with your project. Regards Bruce P.S. Glad you are finding this thread interesting. ;)

I used the old ones as a template and then added on an inch onto the width of the right hand side board to improve the fit. You are welcome to have the old boards as a template as otherwise they will be going on the bonfire. Or pop over and take a trace off the new ones. Regards Bruce
  6. Here are a few photos. New bootboards in place for a trial fit prior to varnishing.

    Chrome trim fitment

Hmmm, I used "Tiger Seal" for the chrome on our Stag. Three years later and they are still firmly in position. The problem will come if I ever need to remove them as I think they will have to be cut off! Bruce
  9. Hi I took the CDSE150 carbs apart yesterday in preparation for overhauling them and then refitting to the GT6 1973 Mark 3 resto. The jets are of the fixed variety. How do I remove them and fit the new ones? Copper drift perhaps? What depth should the new ones be pressed into? Thanks Bruce

    Chrome trim fitment

Hi All How do you guys recommend fitting the chrome strips to the rear end and rear wings of GT6? I definitely won't be using those horrible barbed clips. Blobs of Silicone sealant or Seam Sealer? Is it worth squirting cavity wax into the trim after the sealant had set? Thoughts please. Thanks Bruce
  11. Hi Sorry I have not posted recently. The engine bay is complete, fuel tank in, new boot boards manufactured,, new rear quarter panels made and fitted, heater fitted, windscreen wiper wheel boxes replaced, exhaust fitted etc etc. The past week as been spent manufacturing the new wiring harness. It's well over half way complete with the section behind the dash to complete and a new fuse/relay board to make. Wish I could find that bit of perspex I was saving for that job! The next task after that is fitting the headlining. I am not looking foward to that! Hopefully start the engine up towards the end of next week. Regards Bruce

  14. Hi All I know that you can remove the bottom captive hinge plate from the A post by bending back the tabs. But how the heck do you gain access to the top captive plate? Regards Bruce

  16. Well, I no longer have to look at that drab grey as it's now painted I had a change of heart and asked the brother of my neighbour to apply the top coats. He is a professional sprayer for a local luxury car manufacturer. The benefit of using him to apply the top coats was a better finish than I could have achieved plus he did it much quicker which will probably save me a months rent on the workshop. Putting up all the plastic sheeting took me a while! I am well chuffed with the result. Hopefully I will get the body back on the chassis later this week. Regards Bruce
  17. Hi All The chosen colour is Pimento Red and the paint has been purchased today. Regards Bruce
  18. Yikes, I hope nobody was hurt?! Has the bonnet been damaged? Regards Bruce
