  1. Hi Jon Great. I will pop my entry form in the post tomorrow. What form do the navigation hints take for the novice section?  The reason I am asking is that I am considering whether my 10 year old son could act as my navigator or whether I need to ask one my Triumph owning mates along. Regards Bruce
  2. Hi Jon Have you got room for one more on the event? Regards Bruce  (Cheshire )
  3. Superb job. A few of the photos bring back memories of doing our GT6 a couple of years ago. Keep up posting the photos. Regards Bruce
  4. Hammer a suitably sized socket onto the plug and hey presto you should be able to remove it. I used that trick on the diff plug on my Stag. Good luck Bruce
  5. This is developing into a fascinating read. I look forward to the next instalment. Regards Bruce
  6. Hmmm, ours is a late GT6 Mark 3 and the front and rear pipes both come from the servo. Car is fitted witth the self adjuster drums on the rear. Cheers Bruce

    Hub puller

Hi All I bought a hub puller off ebay last month. It shifted the first hub easily enough but the welds broke when I came use it on the second hub! When i looked closer I discovered that the weld was simply sitting on the surface with no penetration and no preparation of the joint. Took it to someone who has a large manual arc welder and after grinding off the old welds, v slotting the joints, he then put down some good weld. The second hub popped off nicely. Beware of the quality of the welding if you buy one of those pullers. Bruce
  8. Why have you plumbed in the servo to only work on the front? Ours works all the brakes. Cheers Bruce
  9. Good god that is the first time I have seen a towbar fitted to a GT6. Have fun with the resto. Regards Bruce

    Rear Bumpers

I knew you could buy new stainless steel bumpers for Stags but I was not aware GT6 bumpers were also now available :). Something to add to the wish list for some time in the future. Bruce

    Hub puller

  12. Hi Guys Thanks for the hacksaw suggestion. What a sod of a job it turned out to be :( The first one came apart after sawing but the second one would not oblige so I ended up popping around to a friends house and we used his pillar drill to remove the bolt head. Next job is to remove the hubs. Oh how I love doing that, not >:( Regards Bruce

  14. Hi I obtained a spare set of very rusty driveshafts yesterday. Started to dismantle them this evening and all was going well until I came to remove the vertical link from the trunnion. The bolt is seized solid in the trunnion. The nut is off but my trusty lump hammer will not budge the bolt. Any good tips for getting the sucker out? I have left it soaking overnight with penetrating oil. Cheers Bruce

    Diff swap

Hi Kev Yes I can pop round to give you the opinion of another pair of ears. You can return the favour and listen to the horrible thrumming noise coming from the rear of ours! Bruce

    Diff swap

Hi Kev What's up with your original diff? Cheers Bruce

However, I am considering fitting the rotoflex setup so I am replace the existing driveshafts with CV etc. So the bits I require are the bits that are still on your car :-/ Regards Bruce
  18. Hi All Does anyone have a spare set of rotoflex suspension they could sell me? Thanks Bruce
  19. Hi Guys Some good suggestions :) Keep them coming! I like the look of those Chequered Flag bits but they are a bit rich for my blood :-/ Regards Bruce
  20. Hi Guys I don't share your apparent love of the rear arrangement on our mark 3 GT6. We have had two bearings failures in 6 years. I have no idea of the age of the bearings when we changed them the first time but the second failure was only 3 years after they had been renewed. The fact that the knackered bearing always seems to scrap the driveshaft as well is just plain stupid! The arrival of the rumbling bearing took the shine off our weekend at North Yorkshire Triumph event earlier this year. Perhaps we have just been unlucky, maybe it because we use our car all year round in all weather,  perhaps the large number of speed bumps in our area all take their toll. Whatever the cause, the result is that I do want to replace them with something more bomb proof. Regards Bruce

  22. Hi All So basically you are saying I have to convert the car to a rotoflex style rear end to enable me to fit CV shafts? :-/ I was hoping somebody had already some up with a replacement drive shaft/hubs/rear brake units for a long shaft GT6. Regards Bruce
  23. Hi All Does anyone know of an alternative driveshaft/rear hub arrangement which is suitable for a late non rotoflex mark 3 GT6? This is probably the feature I dislike the most about the car and I would love to replace it with something along the lines of CV joints etc. Regards Bruce
