  2. garyf wrote: TD Fitchetts purchased a number of the Old Triumph Press tools years ago, I know the Front Valances and Door Shells for the Herald/Vitesse range that they supply are pressed on the Original Tooling. Regards Gary     Door shells all gone now and no plans to ever do them again.
  3. Correct number for a MKIV (and early 1500 pre spacer) is RKC1624.
  4. Correct number for a Spitfire MKIII is 208493.

  6. http://www.canleyclassics.com/demoapp/?ptno=704873F Ignore the 'out of stock' I have just checked the box and there is 'sufficient' stock.
  7. garyf wrote:Pete I knew someone had fitted the Courier spring and was happy :) That seems to be the way to go then, a Courier Rear Spring with a 1" lowering block and the thicker Spitfire MkIV Antiroll Bar up front. This shouldn't cost a fortune? ;D Please note what I said about Courier spring availabilty earlier in this thread.
  8. garyf wrote:. Both Canley Classics and Bill at Rarebits4Classics have had these Courier spring remanufactured in the past, but I'm not sure of the current availability :-/    One and the same thing, but unfortunately now all gone bar one, and we have no plans to do anymore (all to do with MOQ's, and very VERY slow sales).
  9. Lloyd I have recently fitted a set of Aldridge 2000 carpets to a customers car. We supplied the original set as patterns. For some reason they took it on themselves to add extra piping to areas where there would have orginally been none. Trying to fit it like that would have been difficult, but fortunately there was sufficient carpet (just) in those areas for me to carefully remove it, and fit as original. Also they made the rear main carpet in three sections despite having the original one piece as a template. Apart from that the quality of the carpet used far surpassed that of any other repro set I have seen in a 2000/2.5 in years.

  11. hypoid53 wrote: Slightly more than 3/4 of a tank . About 25 kilos then. That would explain the left to right difference on a GT6 (GT6 has petrol tank way over on the left hand side of the car). On the US GT6 Triumph fitted a spring spacer on the left hand front coil spring to compensate for petrol tank, and driver (sits on the left!). I say its the shock knocking due to having insufficient range of movement which is common on this conversion.
  12. How much fuel did you have in the tank when you took those pictures?
  13. Jason wrote:- all suggestions are welcome, needs to be something with catering, a decent carpark, would prefer something with a motoring heritage/theme but that's not a deal breaker - really somewhere sympathetic to the old car would be good. :-( Coventry Transport Museum then?
  14. Jason wrote: One things is for sure though, with the next run being the 50th anniversary and the Plough looking like it will be under new (possibly much more corporate) management, we could well be looking at a different start/finish point entirely! So that will be Gaydon then
  15. Doug_P wrote: Your website at that time was completely unreadable - if you can't take feedback that is your problem.  Good to see you are as petty as I thought and I hadn't misjudged you. I can desert you twice - I have (As you have no doubt researched) bought a fair bit from you since then.  Aint happening again. Our website hasn't changed fundamentally since its last incarnation some five plus years ago. Your feedback was discussed at the time (that's why I kept it) but as it was the only such feedback we ever recieved we decided to stick with what we had. It is getting a little long in tooth now though, but that is soon to change (thanks Craig).
  16. Hardly a scrap Andy. Doug deserted us over 2 years ago (see my signature) so he can't desert us twice. Now lets start on our friends in the Southern hemisphere :P
  17. Doug_P wrote:Nice.   Canleys have lost a customer - well done. The CT Forum used to be the place to be for a little light hearted joshing. Trouble is some read into this what they will, and can take undue offence. If this Forum was to be become a sanitised, and politically correct arena like those of other car clubs then it wouldn't be any place for me. If this thread had brought McJim back kicking and fighting then that would have been fantastic, I for one miss his interjections from up North. Good luck to you.

  19. thescrapman wrote: Or even better, we can all line up on the top and have a "how far can you piss" competition. Colin But the wind is always blowing from the North up there so if we are pissing in the direction of Salmond'land it will blow back all over our trousers.
  20. On Newsnight last night they were interviewing a Rab C Nesbitt type. They asked him what he would miss about being British. He thought about it for a while, and finally admitted that he would miss Match Of The Day on the telly ;D I will not miss the inevitability of the 5 second portion of the BBC weather forecast on the news each night where they tell us down South that its going to be raining in Scotland the next day.

  22. the sweaty socks get their divorce? We can't call it the RBRR anymore if we continue to drive through the newly liberated People's Republic Of Alex Salmond'shire next month. How about the  RBAASRR (Round Britain And Alex Salmond'shire Reliability Run)?
  23. I used to have one of those aluminium ones in my Vitesse, but it used to get very hot after a long jouney so I ditched it for an original dash mounted type. This is the reason why Abingdon used nylon knobs on the works cars.
  24. 8018 wrote:But I would argue with you re your use of the term Punters. Seems a tad disrespectful to your customers? Not at all. Perhaps in the twilight of my career, and having outlived most of my contempories (by retirement, or something more permanent) my seemingly outspoken views might be seen by some as disrespectful. Most if not all of the principal old gits that started this trade in the 70's, and 80's were quitely sidelined about 20 odd years ago, and disappeared from customer interaction, I'm still here (just). If you think calling punters, punters seems disrespectful then catching the wrong end of a bad day from any one of at least half a dozen retired, or deceased 'characters' from well known Triumph parts purveyors would curl your toes. Don't worry you won't have to put up with me much longer. Perhaps then I could spend some time writing my book about some of the daft things punters have done, or said over the last three decades. Some of them are hilarious, some of them make you wonder how they manage to do up their shoe laces in the morning.
