  2. school boy question is the trunnion less kit avalible for the TR6?
  3. I smear vasaline around the seal  ......oooeer ...dont tell the RSPCA....in my head it helps the seal keep the water off the thread?
  4. It was exactly the answer I was looking for -you know what its like just wanted it confirmed! so next question has anyone got a decent set of S/H TR6 uprights for sale? or am I going to have to buy something new for the shed? :(
  5. Bare with me its been two years since the spitfire/upright/trunnion sagas and I have drunk a lot of cider since then refurbishing the TR6 Trunnions on my SE6a ...and have some school boy questions ...I could have posted this in the TR6 bit as a lot of our cars have trunnions I thought this would be ok..anyway 1- Would you re use the upright pictured? you can see the top two threads are a bit iffy 2-With the trunnion  screwed on in position dry -ie without any oil or grease - the Scimitar boys use Moly grease? Triumph circles recommend EP90 - discuss!!! :)  there is no play up and down but about .25mm left to right looking at the vertical link in the upright position if you see what I mean...anyway cant remember if this much is too much? 3-next daft question, is it those threads causing the play or the trunnion? not sure if those top couple of threads actually make it into the threaded section of the trunnion ? Cheers in advance

  11. "Ellis, please take note some of us are thankful for what you do and all the time, work and effort you put into this" Dint think any one was having a go at Ellis? I was offering to help if people couldn't make the early euro start as I don't intend on staying in Italy All other comments are peoples personal opinion which are fine to air on  their Club forum The fact that the entry will be full by now speaks for its self
  12. I see so why the smoke an mirrors regarding where the suggested overnight halts are in Italy and Germany?- I don't get it?!
  13. michael_charlton wrote: ..........and it turns out, that the MSA observers were sat around the corner when the Huricane went off.......and fortunately didn`t see the `off` Whats that got to do will telling people where the overnight halts are on the 10CR?

  15. thescrapman wrote: Andy I suspect a lot of the timings are being dictated by having to maintain suitable average speeds to comply with permits etc. After the "issues" on the RBRR a few years ago, the club needs to be careful. Cheers Colin I fully appreciate average speeds etc and the work that goes into organizing an event - I helped mark up maps for all entrants on the 05 event  - but the route is not  mandatory nor the overnight halts as explained as per para 11 of the regulations -I have no intention of sticking to the published route - as like the views echoed by James in this post I want to enjoy myself within the event ,which I will :) My question was why not tell us now where the halt is in Italy and Germany - is doesn't matter if you have finalized the route between those points or not  as people, can and will ,plot their own routes depending on circumstances -IE breakdowns, traffic, weather etc or the fact they don't want to knacker them selves out or they might want to challenge themselves etc the point being it becomes a choice - I would hate to think newbies to the event- and you always need newbies to keep clubs going- would feel pressured into doing something beyond their enjoyment zone
  16. why the big secrecy over the route ? The whole idea of the 10CR back in the day was to "do 2,000 miles across Europe in a weekend" the 10 countries bit came later, people were encouraged to plot and bash depending on circumstances and meet at the overnight halt(s) It was called  fun and adventure! I think it would be sensible to at least give locations (rather than the just the countries) of the overnight halts - this would allow entrants to study the "general" route and work out weather they want to even do the event or not ,then think about prep etc - we all have very busy lives  and its always good to know well in advance what you are doing to allow preparation. I don't see the point of cable tying your hands onto the steering wheel and flogging your self to death -its not competitive ! If some people struggle to make the start at the right time ...so what..? as long as they set off do 2,000 miles cover as many countries as they can have fun driving  and get to the knees up at the finish in one piece its better than not entering? Surely a "official" can sign them on at some point in the first 24hrs? Tell you what I will stick around at the start if you want and sign late comers in and pass on the paper work laters?! :) I don't mind !
  17. Nick_Jones wrote:Well done that man!  Downloaded, printed, filled in and now awaiting posting - and no magazine harmed  :). I'm moderately confused about the overnight stops - para 15 of the regs appears to to suffering a cut 'n paste issue...... or maybe it's me  :-/ Some serious love needed on the car before the off - it's suffering from a string of long distance events with little preparation between. Nick Nick this is how I read it Night one -Thursday-  in your car seat Night two- Friday - Italy hotel   (Team Sheds "night two" might not get past Nice  ;) ) Night Three- Sat- Germany Hotel Night Four- Sun- Blue Nun retreat Night two and three to be sorted by the crews   you are right "the Third on Sunday" as per para 15 is bollocks!
  18. The Thursday euro start worked for us last year -and personally think its a good idea as- rather than staying in a M25 travel lodge to make a North London morning start you might as well cross then stop in a Hotel on the continent nearer the roads you want to drive on if you see what I mean I think the signing on time is a bit tight would have liked to have seen last orders around mid day to give people a chance if they have issues with cars or crossings etc What could be a good idea is for convoys to set off from various points around the UK to make the early crossings -you could have four or five unofficial starts then! and get the "crack" going early on "Monte Carlo start style of old"  :) Like I said in a previous post a page is missing from my CT mag all ready, but I am in a quandary if I will stick to the route and visit all the official stops as I was really wanting to re-trace the original 2003 route to Nice and have time to dip my toes and speedos! but as its says in the regs the route is not mandatory I have a feeling as ever Homer and I will be seen somewhere along the route to the finish! One thing for sure I will be busting my bollocks to make sure UGP840R is on the "event"
  19. Agree with Mr Clive Clifty Hanger Senior bobbins are exactly that ...bobbins (ie shite) in the horizontal plane  use a strap for the rear valance mount and over engineer the clamp/bolt arrangement that bolts the exhaust to the diff - undoubtedly this is the one that gets the most impact stress etc when the back box gets twated -we dont have real roads here just scalpings compacted into the peat!
