  3. sorry that link was wrong? dont know why! http://www.tiptongarage.co.uk/ ah slash missed off for some reason!
  4. Talking about father and son rolling road gurus remember Downton Enginering  well Richard Miles and his son have a rolling road at Tipton Garage http://www.tiptongarage.co.uk  great characters never- laugh at my sheds!-and always help me get the most of what little I have ! -they will make their own needles they also make there own ram pipes and tune them to suit applications in fact they will make you pretty much anything including inlet manifolds etc On another note its always a good idea to balance the carbs the best you can before taking to the rolling road as it cuts down the time you get billed for I get laughed at balancing them with a length of pipe but have got pretty good at it doing it that way and even got complimented a few weeks ago when I took the spit in on how well I had done it just with a bit of pipe! it shows that with a bit of patience you can achieve what you may feel to be "black art stuff"

Apparently it was too lean at high speeds. Ah sounds about right ,take it you are running K+N style filters and a bigger exhaust? any head mods? think you might now have a profile similar to the AAT Needle? http://www.mintylamb.co.uk/suneedle/
  6. Agree with all the above a 123 completely sorted the TAXI - 2.5 pi engine running on carbs but again a new dizzy on the spit with decent elecy ignition (couldn't afford another 123!) sorted it -ran like a different car
  7. PaulB wrote:Took her in for a rolling road tune. At the begining she was only producing just over 50 BHP at the end she was producing 70BHP! Although this wasn't down to the distributor programming. It was spot on at the beginning so didn't need any adjustment. The adjustments were all made to the SU carbs and especially the needles. As you can imagine the difference is brilliant. Car revs alot smoother and has a lot more pull mid range and at motorway speeds. Very Happy :-) Which needles did you use in the end? Its great when you see results at the rolling road ! I was well chuffed with the torque improvements I made using my home comedy air box!

  12. Dont forget lucky comfy pants and socks-its amazing changing a pair off socks can be very refreshing and wakes you up! also think about some decent driving shoes/boots makes a massive difference!
  13. I'm planing a big old test drive early Sat morning (8th sept) bit of a boys trip for me and 7 yr old son -planning to call in at the ROUTE 303 AMERICAN DINER just outside Honiton  fro breakfast time ish anyone else in the area fancy meeting there for a cuppa?
  14. Its a compromise between common sense and disappearing up your own arse with worry! Def agree with Andy -don't go replacing OM parts for the sake of it Def relay up the lights-I would fit halogen lamps as they are easy to replace quickly and the better light you have driving with tired eyes the better even fit spot lights-it  takes the strain out of the night drive in Wales, take a sealed beam unit  as a spare we hit a dear on one run smashed a halogen unit replaced it with a sealed unit Def replace cooling hoses/clips if they are a bit suspect Flush the cooling system Bleed fresh fluid through the brakes Every thing gets hot and stays hot or 40 odd hours you will hear rattles and clunks you haven't heard before -don't worry keep driving and remember the most important thing -Its a marathon not a sprint! The other thing to pay attention to is creature comforts in the cabin extra bits of foam/padding snacks within easy reach cup holder etc sounds daft but makes a difference!

Gawd, does this mean that Mr Pearson will bring the 'Stretch' out of retirement???
