  1. Ooooops! Have located a script / diagram Fig. 26 (1.513)  in the user manual but any advice still much appreciated! Cheers!
  2. Does anybody have instructions and/or a diagram for changing the O rings /seals in the pedestal part of metering unit on a Mark 2 PI please? Oil seems to be leaking from the blanking cap area on the pedestal so i have purchased an O ring / seal kit from the "Brothers" in Lincolnshire! I am ok with sorting the fuel / ignition timing and measuring the gap for the pedestal gasket shims but am wary of parting the metering unit from the pedestal, any (sensible) advice is most welcome! Cheers!
  3. Hi Nick! Yep! If my facts are correct, I've been using this engine since 1996 and it's definitely one scab I'm happy to leave well alone!
  4. Thanks for your input George G! It does look like an afterthought from someone other than the factory.
  5. Thanks for your reply George G but it is the thing that the red arrow points to in Rob's reply that i am curious about!   Cheers!
  6. Hi Rob! Thanks for the reply! Maybe I should have sent the picture to Dale to put in Club Torque for a quiz ?!!! Cheers!
  7. Whilst trying to trace an oil leak on my PI i took a photo of what seems to be a small rod bent at 90 degrees attached to the block located between the oil pressure relief valve and the oil filter housing,  anyone have any ideas what it is please? A friend of mine has suggested it's a core plug maybe?! Cheers!
  8. HI, There's a whole load of facts and science behind this question which ranges from things like lead memory, hardened valve seats to how often and hard you will use the engine. I am only speaking from my own experience! I run a PI with a now high mileage engine that i acquired already rebuilt (about twenty) years ago and without knowledge of whether it had been modified for unleaded use. The engine was actually rebuilt before the phasing out of leaded petrol. Since the phasing out of leaded petrol for the best part of fifteen years i ran it on BP unleaded 95 RON. For about the last five years I have run it mostly on Shell Vpower 98 RON (sometimes Esso equivalent) and it has been fine. I only used one bottle of lead additive when leaded was phased out and never bothered since! A couple of times it has felt hessitant; On the 2016 RBRR after using fuel from the stop at Skiach which the brand of fuel i forget the name of and on the 2019 10CR using Total fuel. Bear in mind that this is a PI though and maybe a bit more temperamental! Maybe you could contact the person you bought it from and ask which fuel they used? Dave.
  9. Thank you all for your replies! I am now confident that the car is MoT exempt(!), even so, I will still take it for a yearly test. I (personally) think these vehicles should still be tested and that the French time scale is a good idea; I agree that most classics are very well maintained now days and should be safe to use. However am I correct in thinking that the pass of an MoT is along the lines of the vehicle is only roadworthy on the day of passing its test etc (although the certificate lasts a year)?
  10. Hi All, Thank you for your advice! I have chosen the Heavy Duty OEM Type on the basis that the car does not get used a lot these days and I have saved a little bit of money by using the voucher - I only hope that I don't regret Clive's advice but this will do for the time being! ( Unforunately my money is being consumed by having to have an old diff re built due to the fact that the £800.00 recon unit that has only travelled 6000 miles is leaking oil and whining. It was purchased I think with a 3000 mile, 3 month warranty but due to only really using the car for 1 x RBRR and 1 x 10 Countries run this has expired). GGGGRRRRRRRRR!!!! Dave.
  11. Hello!!! I'm about to change / renew my half shaft UJs and have a voucher for a well known company in Sleaford, Lincolnshire I'd like to use! On their website they list three different types of UJ :-   i) Circlip type GUJ102  ii) Circlip type Heavy Duty OEM Quality GUJ102HD iii) Staked type GUJ102 Staked I also have a pair of NOS Unipart UJs (GUJ116). Would one be more preferable to use than another ( although i must admit the staked prices are a bit on the costly side)? Thanks!
  12. Hi Rob and Howard, Thanks for your prompt replies. I agree with you both and as I'm quite confident that the car will pass it's test without too much difficulty i would rather do this when the time arrives! I do still wonder where owners "stand" if they are at fault with an accident etc and are using the MoT exemption  as regards to there insurer? Cheers!
  13. Would someone be able to verify for me that already having Historic vehicle tax class ( and the car being the correct age) that I can just ignore my next MoT appointment or do I have to change to a different tax class again? I must admit I went to a small Post Office to renew the tax with a completed a V112 form (Declaration of exemption from MoT) and was informed by the assistant that she thought i do not need to do anything! Is she correct?!!! Advice appreciated!!!!
  14. Superb event - Thanks to all the organisers for their hard work!
  15. Many thanks for the quick reply Colin - that makes sense! Cheers, Sienna PI
  16. Hi All! Would anyone know if there is an oil seal at the front end of the gearbox casing (the end where the bell housing attaches to) that can be replaced? Looking at diagrams online i cannot see a seal, i can only see a gasket! Cheers, Sienna PI
  17. I'm also 185/70/14 on Pirelli's (but thinking of different make next time seeking more grip)!
