  1. Thanks everyone.  The rest if my crew are not really spanner monkeys plus there's a lot of damage actually, much more than zI thought St midnight in the middle of nowhere. If we were say in Cortina I think we could have sorted it with some help from other experienced CT crews and a lump hammer for panel beating! Then got some kind of fix for the radiator and lashed it up but in the middle of nowhere, dog tired and teed off I went with the insurance option which looks like it will pay off. My commiserations to others suffering problems and congratulations to those enjoying the event still. This and the moral support from home is brilliant and why Club Triumph is so great. By the way, a very good friend was offering to organise a rescue operation for the car in case it was deemed nor worthy of being repatriated - cheers mate
  2. Yeah  and my car leaks oil as well as having a noisy diff. Now ignoring these little difficulties and hoping we get round without drama
  3. That's what I am using but a 2015 version plus a 2009 Michelin Italy  road atlas I already had 😉
  4. Is everyone using black insulation tape cut to shape? Or something more professional?
  5. A bar running out of beer?? 100 plus 10CR crew in such a situation(naughty)(naughty) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8E0aZ387M_I
  6. That's exactly what I have done. Plumb in the next overnight then ignore it and use the maps. Refer to the Satnav for ETA and if running late you can always then use the Satnav route.
  7. Steve we have 3 in the 2000 so there is space for one more plus Matt George ' codriver has let him down so there are places in other cars yet
  8. But can't you make Cortina from say 8pm Friday night? With all if us staying in hotels in/near Cortina you are bound to bump into us! Meanwhile on the route, I have said it before and I say it again, I would be fine with the route being given to me at the start which would solve any of these concerns in future.
  9. We will arrive at  14.00? Is that the official timing as I don't think I have seen any timing. Personally I will be pleased to arrive early evening
  10. 60 mile drive in the 2000 and it's good to go apart from 1Floats about a bit at the front but if new struts come through at the end of the week from Chris Witor as promised then it will be into my local garage for them to be fitted. 2 There's a bearing noise which I can't pin down. I will get the garage to investigate and hope it's not something awful 🤔 To be honest though I will just set off and see how far we get 😀
  11. I have only booked  Austria on the principle we can use a route avoiding motorways in the other countries
  12. Changes the plugs, painted the battery tray, re positioned the coil away from the engine block and checked the brake pads. Took a test drive, engine smooth, overdrive fine, front suspension wallows about but parts on order. "Bearing type" noise that I can't pin down, sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not, on accelaration then not, sometimes think it's front, sometimes rear, sometimes in gearbox! I think it goes away with more miles being driven Menawhile, looking at buying a back up car tomorrow night
  13. Just come off the phone from Chris and it looks like I'll get the struts the week before the 10CR - GULP!
  14. Raider

    Mazda MX5 Seats

I like the originals and they are basically bolted to the floor, anything else could easily be too high
  15. Thanks Michael. I thought that would pretty much be the plan but it's now clear. I will see if I can get one of the crew to the Plough but I don't think I can make it to either location
  16. I don't mind asking stupid questions publicly What will happen at the Drivers meetings?
  17. Not lost. That's me in caring mode not wanting to leave anyone  behind
  18. Does anyone know if there is a way of people at home tracking where we are? Something like an app on my mobile for example which my wife could log on to. This would make those we leave behind feel part of the event
  19. Now ordered rebuilt front struts with uprated springs and inserts from Chris Witor. I let him know they were needed in time for the 10CR and he said someone else ordered a pair the day before and they were on the 10CR too. Looks like we are good for suppliers 😉
  20. Well my car is now with my local garage for them to finish the brake rebuild for me. I am running out of time with only 8 weeks to go so I am substituting time with money 😲 Might get them to fit rebuilt front struts too. I hope PMW is truly grateful 🤔
  21. Slight error on that one 😀 Having said that - when I retire from work, maybe
  22. As before, I have been unable to persuade my team mates to go for the longer route 😲 I am starting to look at routes tho and could well go off piste after Cortina to do the STELVIO, stop there for lunch and then use previous 20CR roads to reach Ulm. Also need to think about visiting Colditz on the way through Germany on day 1
