Just had a quick look but it's not easy to see without jacking the car up etc but I would say it's more like 80 than 90. It's certainly not more than 90
  2. Thanks guys - I'll look at it over next weekend. I used a pressure bleeder when I put it all back together but no harm in having another go. As the engine has now done 100 miles I plan to retorque the head and change engine oil and filter so I'll bleed the slave cylinder while the oil filter is off as it will be much easier.
  3. It does on the Sprint engine in my TR7 ;)
  4. This will sound strange but bear with me. I rebuilt the original engine in my very early Mk2 2000 and refitted it 100 miles ago now. Been out for  run today and there's some back firing/reluctance to pull from low speed but by eck it will fly after that. Timing and ignition problem I reckon. But - after a 25 mile run coming up to a junction, car in second gear (maybe first) with my foot on the clutch it suddenly cut out whilst lurching forward. The car restarted no problem but selecting a gear was very difficult to start with and the clutch pedal felt to be a long way down and not doing a right lot. I was able to get a gear and drive away but then had the same problem as I pulled up to my drive and manouevred to reverse in - car cut out, restarted no problem but difficult to select reverse :-/

  11. I get the impression these are relatively new bumpers but are less good than tyhe original equipment. Stainless sounds worth considering for the future

    Door problems..

Can't answer your question on AEU1307 but your comment regarding the distributor made me smile :) Yes, well known to TR7 owners how difficult it is to get at and adjust ;D

  15. I have information on the last few years as part of the competitions tables - I use an excel sheet with pivot table so can provide some of the info. Not for pre 2002 tho
  16. Blooming eck!! Nice looking 2000 in the background too
  17. The bumpers on my wife's Mini get pitted very quickly;  in particular the rear one which is more exposed at the end of our car port. I clean the bumper up with Solvol Autosol and have tried a layer of car wax over the bumper to try and seal it. Any ideas on how I could preserve the bumpers better and keep the rust at bay?

  19. I now have all the info in from the 2013 10CR and can add this to the info from all the previous ones to give the following information on car "success rates". Excluding where less than 10 of the particular model have taken part so far in order to give some kind of statistical relevance. 269 cars entered, 242 finished givinjg an excellent success rate of 90% TR2-6              59 entered, 49 finished = 94.2% Stag                 14 entered, 13 finished = 92.8% GT6                  26 entered, 24 finished = 92.3% TR7-TR7V8        22 entered 20 finished = 90.9% 2000/2500        65 entered, 58 finished = 89.2% Dolomite/Toledo 17 entered, 15 finished = 88.2% Herald/Vitesse    37 entered,32 finished =86.4% Spitfire               36 entered,31 finished = 86.1%
  20. JohnD wrote:Thoughly agree with the above caution. But I can see Rod's point.   I won't bore you with the schedules, but has anyone entered a multicar team, whose members swapped between the cars? John Yes, but 5 people sharing my Vitesse and TR7 which worked well on a rota
  21. After more research I can now add to the Spitfire failures one clucth plate that broke up and one gearbox failure (separate incidents)
  22. Goody wrote:Are accidents included in the list?   Can't blame the car for those. Going back to this thread I will try and answer some of the questions. Yes, accidents included of which I have 4 recorded so excluding them - now 406 entered, 376 finished = 92.6% success rate. Spitfire data as requested by Sam Excluding 2 accidents makes 48 entered, 42 finished = 87.5% success rate. Reasons for DNF - sorry can't help, no data on 4 of them and the other two were wheel bearing failure and "ignition problems"
