    vitesse engine

So Mk2 Vit engine into a 2000 how will that work ? A saloon box, 2000 flywheel or Vit flywheel? Or will it need a 2000 crank and how do we know if it is long or short backed ? Andy
  2. I have one (trooper type) on my 1500 Herald so is it a straight swap onto a 2000 engine?
  3. So what starter is needed if you want if for a MK2 triumph 2000 ?
  4. Thank you all for your reply's . I will look into needle numbers thank you. The engine it is going onto is bog standard 1500 so not looking for a power increase but an easier set up better on juice and only worse higher up the rev range which 1500 dont like as this one is standard ish. It has a DBL needle in at the moment MG Metro 1300 this is rich for a 1300 and i can compare needles on Minty. I have a set of twin 1"1/2  which will go on my played with 1500 (but not built yet) because that will be revving higher thus the single may or may not hold my back a bit but will try both. Thanks again for all your comments this forum is GREAT ! Andy
  5. Dolly manifold so equal inlet tract, carb to manifold face machined out to 1" 3/4 from 1" 1/2 ,mini throttle linkage plate.   Hope photos come out. I thought one of the 1500 Dolly had a single carb also, Mr Kipping had this set up on his Van. Andy
  6. Has anyone got a needle number for a single SU fitted to a 1500 ? It's is actually a 1 3/4 hif as fitted to a MG Metro. Any help on needles for a 1500 will help as I have free flow exhaust and a k&n filter, electronic ignition apart from that engine is standard ish.              Thanks Andy:
  7. Nice one, I am only in Barnsley if you get stuck or need a hand and  frequently go to Selby for work. Andy
  8. Tried there he sells them all to someone in America !!! Andy
  9. Hi all,         Where is the cheapest place i could get a 1500 twin SU inlet manifold only (as i do not need the carbs) from £45 - £55 on the bay can anyone suggest anywhere i could try that would be cheaper? Regards Andy
  10. Are we talking Herald 1200 with Solex carb? Andy
  11. I have had great success with the jacking up method. Andy
  12. 4080 wrote:..Thanks Bill - 13/60 pipe it is then. I presume the 13/60 fitting kit then, rather than a 1200 kit with a 13/60 manifold gasket...??? Slight difference in bore size although the same back-box is listed for both, I think..... Hi where are you as i have just taken mine complete manifold and system off to fit something else ! Andy
  13. Morning all, I am taking my 13/60 engine and box out in one and fitting a 1500 and non-overdrive single rail all in one . Where is the best place for balance to fit the engine hoist? Regards Andy
  14. I am getting a shop to do it but i do not want them to take too much off so i get problems. Andy
  15. Where is the best place to get 2 good quality driveshaft UJ's from, someone said you can use land rover ones which are stronger but I do not know. Thanks Andy
  16. Alex wrote:Any idea what a standard flywheel weighs? How much meat can be taken off? Anybody here done it that can comment on the benefits? That is basically what I asked ! Andy
  17. How much does a 1500 Spitfire flywheel weigh ? I want to lighten my flywheel but not go overboard. Had anyone done this but I do not want to go too light as I still want it to idle. Andy :)

    Paint prep

Hi Dave how are you, I used a wire wheel on a grinder to take off the paint, straight to the metal BRILL ! I did start with the sander but took far too long and started to remove some of the metal ! (not good) Andy  :)
  19. Thank you all for your comments we might have a solution. This is from a blog page. Electronic Flasher Units If you ever want to fit LED bulbs for your indicators you'll need to replace the old Bi-Metal flasher unit with an electronic item, I normally use Autosparks for anything electrical. I initially fitted it by connecting the white live wire from the switch to terminal 49, the light green/brown wire from the wiper switch to 49a, then the light green/purple wire I connected to terminal 31 to earth via the warning light on the dash. This kind of worked in that the indicators flashed but the warning light on the dash didn't. To overcome this you'll need get an insulated bulb holder and a short length of both green/red & green/white (14/0.30 8.75amps) PVC Cable, 1 metre of each should be plenty. Under the dash by the steering column you find these 2 coloured wires joined by single bullet connector. Replace the single bullet connectors with doubles and spur the 2 wires off to your new bulb holder and pop it in the back of the instrument. This leaves your light green/purple cable and original bulb holder with nowhere to go, just snip off the bulb holder and run this wire to earth. Job done! We will see at the weekend if this works. Andy :)
  20. Good afternoon I have just fitted an electronic indicator relay to my Herald I have a pos, a neg, an an other on the relay. Pos is a double white or cream colour wire so quite simple, now comes the funny bit putting the wires on one way around the indicator's works fine  but not the tell tale on the dash, turn the wires around and the dash works and the indicator's don't but both times relay working fine. Has anyone come across this or what can I do to get all lights to work.  :-/ Andy

  22. It was great to see all the vehicles both doing the rum and also come to give support. As time went on and vehicles left the services I had to take extra care on my crutches as the (standard ) oil spots on the parking spaces got more and more as more vehicles went to fuel up, then up the A1. I saw my very first car when i was 17 my Herald 1200 had never looked better, I still regard it as my car when i speak to Dale. Thanks for making it another great turn out and i am sure everone involed had fun! Andy :)
  23. And don't forget the traffic officer from VOSA he seamed interested . It was a very good turn out.
