  1. I have a dual oil pressure and water temp gauge. Easy to fit, nothing irreversible and you can swap the black painted bezel over and paint the bulb green to match the other instruments.
  2. Hi Wim, I have such a hybrid system on my car, and its been good for a decade. Mild Steel 4 branch manifold 'Reducer' (available with manifold if requested) standard steel centre pipe Hand fabricated link Stainless Steel GT6 back box

Did you get your rev counter converted or switch it to an aftermarket one for the electric feed? Would also be interested to know what curve you are using and find works.  cheers John Hi John, Sorry for delay in replying. Busy week! I had JDO instruments convert my spare rev counter specifically for the 123 ignition. It runs off a wire from the coil. As for the curve, I got one for the late Mk3 from a query on this forum. (see below). I don't think I've got the vacuum advance set properly as it won't run with that connected at present. So more work needed to sort that... 4. Powder coated louvred aluminium. Look great and work well.

  6. Just fitted a 123Tune to my Mk3 GT6. will post experiences in due course...
  7. OK - The answer.... The differential/crownwheel carrier had snapped. No one knows why. Metal fatigue?
  8. SUs suffer from flooding float chambers and the spindles wear through the Carb body... Personally, for a stock GT6 I would stick with the Strombergs anyday.
  9. Well nothing would get it moving on Xmas day. Had to resort to Boris bikes in the end... RAC towed it home Boxing day after a 4 hr wait. John Yarnell collected it Monday (and took the 3 sec vid). The diff will be going back next week. I don't have any workshop facilities in central London and 'car repair work' is forbidden in our apartment block's underground car park - though I get away with a bit :) Just a shame that a recon diff with a 'new crown wheel and pinion' should fail after about 200 miles....
  10. Yes it suddenly went. No drive at all, just clunking. Quite without fuss or warning, on the way to friends for Xmas lunch.....
  11. Hi, New Year quiz. ;) Here's a video of my less than 200 mile GT6 Diff (from a well known supplier). Apart from the noise, what else is wrong? http://youtu.be/6oAuvv9eqAw Clue - It was the cause of the GT6 spending Xmas at the side of the road a mile from home.....
  12. I have a Spitfire 1500 and a GT6 for that very reason. One car on the road and one in storage/restoration = one car ;)

  14. rotoflex wrote:Does this help? http://www.teglerizer.com/mgstuff/advance_curves.htm Thanks Bill. 70-73 GT6 Mk3 is the only one with missing data. Will have to map it as a Mk2....
  15. Hi i've been through the workshop manual and I can't find any settings for the advance curve, just the static and idle settings.... Any one know these?
  16. Hi Nick, Yes its the mappable version as I read the previous thread. I've also had my spare rev counter 'modded' by JDO. I'll dig out the workshop manual and look up the standard advance curve.
  17. Cap sorted, but any thoughts on the advance curve?
  18. Hi, I've just got a Lucas 25D6- based 123-tune conversion for my GT6 A simple question and a harder one. 1. What cap would be required? Caps seem to be sold by model so this is confusing..... 2. Has anyone set up a Mk3 GT6 with the 123 Tune and what advance curve settings did you use? Alternatively, what are the stock advance curve settings for a late 73 Uk spec Mk3? Its my Christmas task! Many thanks! Brendan
  19. TSSC shop sell exactly the same in the UK. I have one on my car.
  20. OK, having done some reading I've decided to go the 123 tune ignition route fitted into a 45D6. I will need a pedestal and clamp. Does this only come from the 2000 saloon, or is it the same on 4cyl engines?
  21. OK, Thanks. I can get my spare tach converted easily to electronic, so will go that route and a new lucas distributor. Just need to find one with the right 'curve'. BTW car broke down again. THIS TIME it was the one 'new' thing I left on from the PO. A cheap crappy mech fuel pump that wasn't pumping... :( put on my NOS one I had put by, and its fine..
  22. Hi, My new GT6 let me down last night, suddenly stopping right outside Buckingham Palace. Missed what we were going to and caused a lot of hassle with the police. All down to a frayed earth lead on the ignition module in the distributor. In fact the whole Delco distributor is rubbish and the cap fits poorly. I'd like to swap for a better one. My understanding is that the Lucas 45D6 is available with a built in unit, but it doesn't have a tacho take off. I have a spare GT6 tacho. Could I get that converted to electronic anywhere, or does the 45D6 come in any application with a tacho drive? Suggestions welcome. Thanks PS i don't want to fit a very 'non-standard' looking 123 unit.

  24. Black... Personally I dislike coloured engines and rocker covers... Really.. whatever you want.
