  1. I wouldn't have thought a single knackered hole would have caused the door to sag? I have the same problem and will fix by using a longer bolt and locking nut on the end.

  3. Mountney do a thick one. Not to my tastes but each to their own and that..
  4. It depends on your budget but I did a lot of patching and found myself replacing panels in the end. It's often easier, less time consuming and more importantly - much less soul destroying. We all feel your pain.
  5. John, them panel gaps look superb. What a great starting point.
  6. Is this the Bell one at Rimmers? http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID008018 I'm gonna go for it! Anyone got one for sale?
  7. Decided I'll put the carbs together as they are, re-bushing with my limited machining skills may just write-off a perfectly good set! At least the new spindles are better than the old ones.....
  8. Quote:Hello Craig, how is the car running? If you are happy with it I wouldn't bother. Worn spindle bushes will be more noticeable at idle but when driving the small amount of extra air will be negligible, not an essential repair in my view? Alec Car isn't running at the moment mate, under restoration. only had the engine turning over briefly prior to removing the carb. Not so much of a rattle I guess, might try live with it although I have a bee in my bonnet now and fancy the challange!
  9. Hi all, I am rebuilding my CD 150's and I'm a little hung up on what we consider as "excessive" when it comes to spindle bore wear... It feels sloppy to me and measures at about 5 thou a side clearance. Your thoughts are welcomed! I will glaldy rebush, but is it necessary.....? Thanks!
  10. That block looks well ;-) Good luck with the build...
  11. Still toying with the idea of a Bell exhaust myself if someone has one kicking around.. I owe the neighbours some abuse.  :P
  12. Good work John, thanks for the updates. Almost forgot about this one - very nice to see your making good progress!
  13. Quote: I really feel for the youngsters who, particularly nowadays, are under so much pressure at work and perhaps with a family to consider, have little time for their hobbies and to enjoy themselves as we did in our youth. Oh don't worry...car nuts are the same across all generations. We find the time ;)
  14. Quote: I could have bought a nice GT6 probably for less than this will cost me to finish but for me the enjoyment is in the building as well as the driving. I agree! What's that saying "Happiness is a journey, not a destination" - it seems to sum it up quite well.
  15. This thread really does re-iterate the importance of buying a car with sound body work. In comparison, mechanical problems are so unbelievably easy to fix. Setting the panel gaps on my project is the steepest learning curve I have followed, but I am getting results but still not perfect – although it pays at the early stage not to be afraid of using a hammer! But someone please tell me, is there any point in trying to achieve a satisfying clunk when the door shuts, or is it always going to be so earth shattering?  :-/
  16. Im getting jealous looking at them pictures..your house is beautiful! And what a garage!
