2. "If you do remove the steering lock it can be a MOT fail" My Spitty won't fail............see below. The inspection of the steering lock only applies to passenger cars with: . a steering lock fitted as standard by the manufacturer, and . four or more wheels, and . not more than 8 passenger seats excluding the driver’s seat, and . first used on or after 1 September 2001 The check does not apply to quadricycles. If there is doubt as to whether a steering lock was originally fitted, the benefit of the doubt should be given. It is acceptable for a steering lock to be removed if it has been replaced with another immobilisation device. Some electronic steering locks, generally on vehicles with keyless ignition systems, will only activate when the driver’s door is opened/closed. 8)
3. Or you could rig up a gravity feed for the 1st start while you sort out a pump. 8)
4. My Eurobox has a combined starter and alternator, it runs at engine speed........not the Smartest of ideas. ;D 8)
5. Take the spark plugs out and spin it over without any compression and see if it free up. Bit worried about winding on the gearbox, this should not need to be done, however pumping the clutch pedal should centralize the friction plate. 8)
6. Not the answer to your problem, but........ In future, Instead of using easystart, put Petrol into an old clean hand pump atomizer like an windscreen de-icer and spray that into the carbs while the engine is turning. Then the engine can then be kept running longer by additional squirts.(clap) (After thought) You say you have checked all the normal bits, does this include the plug leads and the firing order, how about the ignition timing? 8)

Bumpers

Hi Richard, Never involved a courier before for anything, leave it with me. My only concern regarding sending these is that it's difficult to assess the condition in a photo. One can always reject them if viewed. Bye Lance 8)

Bumpers

Here's a picky, no chrome peeling, rub em down and paint or re-chrome. If unclaimed my scrap-man will have em. 8)

Bumpers

Free pair of bumpers, front and rear for a MkIV or whatever. Pick-up only from the West Midlands. Front was on my car till a better one came along. Rear I got for someone else but they didn't need it. If anyone is interested send me a PM. 8)
14. If the VL is on the car, remove the filler plug and put some oil in the trunnion before fitting and a rag on the floor to catch the expelled oil. Then you will know it  is full ;). 8)
15. When hot pull a plug lead off or turn off first, remove and restart, do one at a time and see if it makes the running worse. 8)

Engine Woes

I'd try running it with the fuel filler flap open and see if that makes any difference.(think) 8)
17. The engine and gearbox use different types of oil.  Take a sample on your finger and smell it, then compare this to the smell from the cans used to top up the engine and gearbox.  Hypoid gear oil has a distinct odour. 8)
18. I always say when clutch problems appear on this forum "1st check the return spring is in place on the pedal under the dash"  (think) 8)
19. Cheers. I should have said fine grain not smooth Doh. Now thinking I need to send for some new door cards from PL. 8)
20. They are smooth grain vinyl but available in course grain or leather. 8)
21. Check out Owens web site. Foams are less that £160.00 at the moment.  Instead of the original hog rings PL uses nylon ties - simples. http://www.parklaneclassics.co.uk/index.htm [img][/img] These are PL covers and foams done Dec' 2012 8)
22. Just looked at this thread. Are you getting a full stroke at the pedal end i.e. is the pedal when firm near the floor or up near the brake pedal where it should be? 8)
23. How many flats on the jet nut are you lowering from when the jet is flush with the bridge - 12 is approx which is only 2 complete turns. 8)
