Callyspoy
Hi folks, does anybody have any experience of fitting 165/70/13 tyres to 4.5j wheels? I want to go a little wider on some standard wheels. I'm ok with the smaller rolling radius, just whether people think it'd be ok to chuck those tyres on the rims.Cheers! Mark Hammond
You'll need 5.5j for that size rim I'm afraid. Most for 4.5j is 155s.Mark
Clive
I have run 175/70 on 4.5 rims. Done quite a few autosolo's too, no issues. They look a little pinched, but I would happily use the 165/70 with no worries.Ah, found this little tool. About halfway down pop in the tyre size and it gives you suitable rim widths. Looks good to go!http://www.alloywheels.com/tyrecalc.asp(sorry to disagree Mark :P )

Mark Hammond
I think that you'll get a lot of sidewall flex though...Best with 5.5j rims...IMHOMark
MarkB
Hi allA few months ago I e-mailed Bridgestone to enquire about what size rims I could fit a set of Firestone Multihawk tyres I have to. This is the reply.MarkHello. ETRTO Standards state that a 175/70R13 can be fitted to rims of the following dimensions: 4.50B4 ½ J5.00B (optimal recommendation)5J (optimal recommendation)5.50B5 ½ J6.00B6J So all of these would be approved under ETRTO legislative standards. Kind regardsBSUK Technical
Callyspoy
Cool, so with that in mind, my 165/70/13 idea should be a goer.I appreciate the concerns about fitting them, but i'll go the way of the people who have experience in fitting them.Cheers folks. Callyspoy
Hi folks, update.Fitted a pair of 165/65/13's to the front, they look good. No obvious bulginess and seems to drive/handle very nicely. I have 5 1/2 j's on tbe rear with 185/70/13's and all seems to be grand.

Callyspoy
For the tyres? They are Falkens, so distinctly mid range, they were £75 for the pair.
logicaluk
i used to have falkens on my saab 900 turbo, they were a pain to get on the rims, but seemed like decent tyers.Dan
