Alex
I really wanted to get some tr6 wheels but I'm a bit concerned that if I did they could rub whats the chances? :-/If I were to find a set of stag alloys what sort of money would I be expected to pay ?I'd really like a set with useable tyres although barely legal would suffice as long term I'd be looking to fit a quality set of tyres, dont mind having to clean them up as long as they are round and are going to hold air.Cheers Alex
andy thompson
Old Stag alloys are generally worth what they weigh in Aluminium.... however in reality they are often overpriced, very tricky to balance, leaky and corroded...
Alex
mmm...thats not exactly good points then :-/
Glenn
Maybe worth about £100 for a set with legal tyres if you're lucky? Try to get wheelnuts thrown in - another £40 or so if you have to buy new. They do look good however. Plus moving up to 14" gives a better choice of modern rubber - quite a choice in 195/70/14. andy thompson
BUT if your spending your hard earned on a set of S/H alloys there are better ones around... unless you are very attached to getting Stag style
Greeks
I know of Mk2 with TR6 wheels on and they don't rub. They've got super-shit wheel trims on in this pic. mind
Thorsten
Hi,my experience with TR6 wheels (and 185/65 tyres) is: On the Mk1 PI (original track width) no problems at all, on the Mk2 Estate it looked pretty narrow in the rear but still ok, while the scruffy front wheel arches (maybe in conjunction with the slightly weak dampers) actually left marks in the tyre walls.RegardsThorsten
Alex
I thought there was an issue with clearence on tr6 rims dependent on if the car was an early or late mk2?
Thorsten
Mine is an early one - 1971. Doesn't the face lifted cars have a greater riding height, therefore possible more room for the wheels?RgdsThorsten
