gt6878e
hi there....i just replaced the core plugs on my gt6 mk1 and they were a bucket type (like a short botttle top)........i just knocked the old ones out by piercing them with an old screwdriver, then prised them free. Then cleaned off the hole.....put a good thick coat of thread lock (locktite) on the new ones and knocked them in with an old socket..... worked a treatdarren
tombruton
Thanks for that. Sounds pretty simple (famous last words....)Anyone know if I need bucket or dished type? I know they're 1 1/2", but i've never seen the difference between the two. I guess the dished ones have a convex/concave bottom, as opposed to a flat bottom?Cheers
heraldcoupe
On a 1300 or 1500 you will need the deep dished type. The saucer type core plugs were phased out mid 1960s, the only 4-cylinder engines falling into the either/or category are the 1147 types.Cheers,Bill.
