shenderson
My father's '72 PI estate has an odd engine number: MG 2866 ESS which, apart from MG, bears no relation to the Commision number. Can anyone decipher it? I think it had a short engine fitted by the (notoriously hamfisted) British Leyland dealer when it was fairly new.If so, the engine should be to the original spec. but does the engine number give any clues?Any info much appreciated.Steve H
Deleted User
The ESS suffix means that it was a waranty replacement engine - i.e. the engine was replaced under waranty by a BL dealer.
