Raider Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 As far as I can work out there were "short" inlet manifolds used with 1 1/2" Strombergs and SUs as well as "long" inlet manifolds used with 1 3/4" SUs on Mk2 saloons.I also think the Mk1 2000 inlet manifold was different - somewhere in between?Have I read somewhere that the Mk1 inlet manifold is superior to the Mk2 short inlet manifold? The part number on my Mk2 is something like RKC012 - a short Mk2
dazzer Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I thought there was a number of different manifolds even on the MK1. The best I found in a batch was 307044. I found the difference between this early (ish) MK1 early 65 to a supposed later MK1/MK2 manifold was slightly larger inlet tracts and locating holes for location roll pins on the head. (The larger tracts and roll pin holes being on the 307044. I opened it up much further when I fitted the 13/4 Strombergs and all works well. Did they relocate the Servo take off to the end of the manifold on the MK2? or was that GT6... not sure. On my early MK1 it's central.Cheersdarren
Raider Posted November 13, 2011 Author Posted November 13, 2011 Thanks Darren.I now suspect there would be a problem fitting a Mk1 inlet manifold to a Mk2 head :-/The servo take off is central on my inlet manifold,
dazzer Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Yes the different head configuration, although the longer MK2 manifold should give better torque.
