helicopterdcr
Newbie Herald owner - see my post on vibration....I see my newly-acquired 13/60 Convertible has 145x13 tyres fitted, and the book says I should have 155x13 tyres. Can anyone offer any advice on this? I can't imagine why the wrong tyres are fitted; perhaps that will also affect the road speed band where the vibration is present?Cheers,Dave
valencia1
145's are ok on standard rims(3 1/2"), 155's on 4 1/2" rims 155's on std. rims tend to makehandling a bit more "roly". so you need to see what width rims you have! i believe 4 1/2's were std. on vitesse's.regards bryan. helicopterdcr
Thanks Bryan. I'll be checking the rims out soon, once I get the tracking checked and get the worn out spare prised off its rim. BTW, were 4 1/2s standard on the Herald as well as the Vitesse? Cheers, Dave
valencia1
possibly on vans and estates which were likely to carry more wieght
heraldcoupe
The 4.5" wheels first appeared in the second half of 1962 on Vans and Estates. They were later fitted to the Vitesse and became effectively an option across the range.Cheers,Bill.
thebouncingbunny
i always think 155's look too big and much prefer the 145's.tho to be completely honest my car never felt and looked better than when i was running the original dunlop crossplies.......bunny

helicopterdcr
Well, I got the spare changed and the rims are in fact 3 1/2", so my mind is a peace now - thanks everyone: I'm sticking to the 145s... they must be cheaper than 155s too.CheersDave
