Positive or Negative Earth?

Hi everyone

I have just brought a 1970 13/60 herald saloon, while getting it ready for it's MOT i noticed it was positive earth, but the handbook says it's negative.

So which is correct?

The car starts, runs and charges fine, but has had a new battery at some point.

If i change it back, do i have to do anything other than swap the battery wires over?

I dont know why anyone would change it in the first place, unless its fitted with a positive earth alternater, radio, electronic ignition or rev counter ?

If not you can just change it back, but you will have to polarise the dynamo by flicking a live feed to one of the terminals...........but I cannot remember which one !

Someone else will know ?
