V6 Mark
the engine was hot and there is plenty of oil in there (according to the dipstick anyway) but after a run it started to flicker at idle, a few revs and it goes out. I guess an oild change will confirm I have the right grade and quantity in there. Is this common?
toomanyprojects
Common in Old Landrovers (even the manual says not to worry about it!)Last time I had a similar problem in another vehicle (Opel Manta GT/E, but same principle!) it was the spring in the bypass valve (pressure relief valve) that was weak and not sealing at lower pressures. changed this and the problems went away.Never noticed that the Spitfires done it. heraldcoupe
Unless there are other symptoms, treat the pressure switch as suspect and change it as a matter of course.Cheers,Bill.
rotoflex
My first response would be to check what the oil light warning is supposed to indicate!Check the oil pressure, then check oil pressure relief valve (if the pressure is low) or the oil pressure light sensor (if the oil pressure is not low).
