MJH2454
Hi, Spitfire MKIV. I'm looking at replacing my mild steel system with a new stainless one. I have no interest in a noisy straight through system. However aesthetically I like the look of the twin tailpipe standard back box as fitted to GT6's. What are the thoughts of fitting one of these to an otherwise bog standard 1300 engine. Would it upset the running? I know you can get a so called semi sports system with twin tail pipes for the MKIV, any one know if these are particularly noisy? Thanks
RobPearce
The semi-sports systems have sometimes been reported as even noisier than the full sports ones. I don't think a GT6 rear box would upset a 1300 much, but the bore is too big and you probably want to find some way to mate it to a thinner main system. You can't fit a full GT6 exhaust anyway because the shape's all wrong at the front.

Thanks As Rob says, the semi sport systems are very loud, I had one for a while, it got changed. A GT6 rear box, or indeed box and middle pipe, should fit and just need an adaptor to fit to a spitfire downpipe. Or I think they fit straight onto a 4 branch manifold? But adaptors should be easy enough to find. Have a word with Canley Classics.
