Ben Hutchings
(I have deja vu. I know I've already discussed this here many years ago, but can't find it..) My 6mm ply load area broads got very wet over winter and have died an ugly death, so I'm looking to make some more. What materials have you lot used besides plywood in the past? Current favourite option is VarioLine which is a polypropylene material with hard outer, open-cell inner a bit like foam board but way stronger. There are all sorts of similar recycled thermoplastic sheets around. Can't currently see a downside besides cost (about twice what ply costs). Velocita Rosso
Using ply wood .....always use Marine ply then it is not water/damp attractive...then use a black gloss paint.....This would then be a water resistant, and not allow warping..That`s whats in our GT6 .Underneath carpets, who would notice..........other than people asking What you got under there? Guppy916
Hi I used 18mm marine ply then gave the bottom side a couple of coats of marine varnish, then used a vinyl covering, and stiched a leather edge to the vinyl glued the the vinyl in place wrapped the leather around the edge and stapled to the bottom. I think this will give years of service and looks great
