Windscreen washer/wiper switch pump Spitfire

Hello everyone. Does anybody out there know where I can obtain a windscreen wiper pump/switch (the manual type) for my Spitfire 1500. Have tried usual suppliers but no joy.

Thinking of maybe converting to electric pump system.

Hi Peter, my Spitfire 1500 (1977 build) has the electric washer pump as standard. Switch for the pump is on the wiper stalk switch:

(Push for wash) 

And I used a generic washer pump to replace my failed one a few years ago from eBay of this type: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283892034393

Can't help with the manual type I'm afraid.

It seems I just missed out on the electric system. My Spitfire is 1976.

Found vacuum units available in USA but still hoping to source one in UK.

Hi All i have a 1977 spitfire which has a manual washer/switch my stalks are for indicators and dip/main beam is there a conversion kit to change to whole lot to electric  pump and stalk control

it is possible to fit the complete steering column from a late 1500 spitfire. That will do what you want, and I am trying to remember what I did to fit mine. But it is all bolt-on stuff, I can't remember about the wiring, except it wasn't complicated.

It is also possible to build a switch onto the original that will operate an electric pump. The original pump must be removed from the switch and a momentary contact push switch mounted in its place. That switch is wired to run the electric pump.

The easiest solution is to add a push switch somewhere, and an electric pump. The neater way is as above, or source a 2 speed wiper switch with electric pump, tr6 and my old toledo used such a switch.

Just got rid of mine had the electric one fitted in its 2 speed knob which you turn in place of the push button with a separate washer.
