Richard B
Fixed jets in Strombergs 175CDSE on the StagAny idea how far down in the body they should sit? They are an interference fit. Should they be flush or 2mm down from the body? The new jets (and the old ones) have a recess about 1 mm deep.Presumably they are the same as a Federal TR6. Workshop manual and Haynes Stromberg manuals don't seem to be a lot of help!(ps. Not talking about the float chamber needle valves)
StagNL
Mine were not flush but around 0.8mm down if memory serves me correctly. When I rebuilt the carbs I pressed in the new jets to the same height. However, due to circumstances I had too press (hammer and pipe socket) the jets a little more until they were just right. A session with a gas meter thingy in the exhaust was what showed me the car was running way too lean - hence lowering the jet height to increase fuel mixture. My opinion is you can press them in to where the originals were for a start and if the car runs too lean despite needles full rich, then tap them in more.Julian
