Adrianb
Hi, I have available on my Midge Which has Herald 1200 running gear, the Brake and Clutch Master Cylinders which are in good serviceable condition. They look remarkably similar to my 13/60 ones that I I am replacing So the question is can I Use ones from a 1200 on a 13/60? I know these cars can be Bitsas! As the Head was off a Spit Apparently! Clive
Yes, same cylinders. Only thing, the 13/60 should have a larger capacity resevoir on the brake master, that is important. Some 1200 had a small capacity resevoir, identical to the clutch master. And some had a plastic extension to the resevoir, which is OK. Adrianb
Thanks Clive, I’ve looked at both sets and they look basically identical.
drofgum
Adrian, The larger reservoir was introduced when disc brakes were added. Wear of the pads could lower the fluid level too much with the smaller reservoir. Regards, Paul
glang
Yes with the small reservoir really recommend adding an extender, Girling part number 64947008 (dont get the larger size one), as this increases capacity and lets you see a drop in level without removing the cap... Adrianb
Many Thanks Paul and Glang, duly noted.👍
glang
Should have added that unfortunately afaik theyre not made now so its NOS or secondhand and that makes them expensive. In the end you can get a new master cylinder with large plastic reservoir for pretty much same money...

The Triumph part number for the extension is 213691 if it helps track one down.

glang
Certainly looks like it but be very careful its not the larger 60mm diameter one. The page doesnt say which size it is...
