triumphlux Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 I have now done the first 50 miles with my restored car which is fitted with EBC drilled brake discs and pads for the front brakes and alloy brake drums with standard pads at the rear. The brakes work fine with good pedal feel but they 'rumble' when braking, and they still do it after 50 miles of normal driving and braking.I checked both front and rear brakes and the pads bed in evenly and everything looks OK.The rumble goes away when the brakes start to get hot ...Is this part of the bedding in process or is normal on drilled discs ???
Deleted User Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Im gonna take a guess and say you got drilled and grooved brake discs? or are they just drilled.Either way they are noisier than normal, the grooves if you have them part of there purpose is to scrub the pad to clean it.and 50 miles wont have broken your brakes in yet, the noise gets less, i only notice it now when i stand on the brakes.
triumphlux Posted July 7, 2007 Author Posted July 7, 2007 The brakes have grooves and are drilled, but only a few millimeters deep. As they brake well and as I don't see any obvius problem on the brakes, I will give them a few more miles to bed in.
Deleted User Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 yes iv heard the grooved discs do make quite a noise!
