Chris_Nobbs
i am in the process of stripping my front brakes which are drum brakes. the front wheel cylinder on both sides appear to be seized. are they meant to be solid or are they meant to move. i assume they are meant to move to work the bottom shoe. i stipped one side thought it was siezed so replaced and now find the other side the same - weird. so can some one tell me please are both wheel cylinders meant to move or is one meant to be solid?please help cheers
heraldcoupe
There are two identical cylinders on each side, each should move freely.Cheers,Bill.
herald948
Bill's right. Unlike the rear brakes, the fronts are "2LS" or two leading shoe-style brakes; each wheel cylinder activates the "leading edge" of one shoe, but the cylinders themselves are solidly affixed to the backing plate.
