Raising Seat Backs

Hi Neil,

Not quite sure I understand - are you talking about the squab tilting back too much? i.e. the bit you sit on, rather than the seat back? Or is it the seat back, or both?!

You could jack the rear end of the seat frame up, on something as crude as some small blocks of wood (drilled for the fixing bolts), if you want to pitch the whole seat forwards a bit. Previous owner had done this to my car, although they had jacked up the whole seat not just one end. You need to keep the seat frame square and flat though, or it's difficult to slide fore and aft.

Alternatively it might be worth re-furbishing the seats with new foams and strapping. Quite expensive but makes a big difference. I did one 1500 seat with a reupholstery kit from James Paddock. Was a fair bit of work but gave me a chance to hand-wash the covers as well, so the seat was like new.

Last but not least, you could nick a cushion off the sofa and sit on that :)

Pete
