2019 Coast 2 Coast Run

The 2019 event will be held during the night of Saturday and Sunday 27th and 28th of April.  Sunday 28th April is National Drive it Day. The normal Club Triumph regulations apply and can be found in detail at

[Sorry, link no longer available]

Entry will be open from 12/01/2019 and can be found at

[Sorry, link no longer available]

The price of entry is £25.00.

The provisional route of the event is to start at Ravenglass in Cumbria, to drive over Hard Knott Pass to Ambleside, over Kirkstone Pass to Penrith, over Hartside Sumit to Alston, to Barnard Castle, Whitby, Scarborough, Humber Bridge, Louth, Sleaford, Stamford and follow the A43 to Bicester and to join the Club Triumph plot at the Bicester Heritage Center Classic car and Aircraft Scramble meeting.

The Starting point is the Pennington Hotel at Ravenglass.  Signing on, the briefing and the supper will be held here starting at 17:00.  Parking for entrants will be in the car park for the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway https://ravenglass-railway.co.uk/  ,    free from 16:00 onwards.

The southern Lake District is a delightful part of the country, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and well worth an extended stay. It has many attractions, including Lake Windemere , the Lake District Motor Museum, The Lakeside and The Ravenglass railways. For those wanting to stay the previous night at the Pennington Hotel special terms have been negotiated and a room will be priced at £90 per room.  Details of the Pennington Hotel are at http://penningtonhotel.co.uk/ .  Other accommodation is plentiful in the area, but remember this is the week after Easter.

There will be a halfway point at McDonalds, Scarborough Fayre, Dunslow Road (A64), Scarborough and fuel is available at BP, West End Services on the same road.

The finish will be at the Bicester Heritage Center, the country’s leading classic car and aircraft restoration centre. BHC holds of their regular Scramble events on Drive it Day and about 2,000 classic cars converge on Bicester that day.  Club Triumph have had a plot here for the last three years.  It is some spectacle.  Entry to the C2C includes entry to the Scramble.  A well earned breakfast can be purchased from a number of mobile catering outlets. The cost of breakfast is not included in the entry fee.

Entry will initially be limited to 40 cars.  Should more that this express interest a reserve list will be maintained.

Thank you to all those that have entered so far.  Your entry status is "Submitted" at the moment.  I am having some difficulty getting access to the entry list so that I can change your status to "Entered" and to write you a welcome letter. So please don't be too concerned that this has not happened just yet.  It will as soon as  get full access.

Quoted from AlanChatterton-

Entered! Looking forward to it.

Do you have a link to the route, or does that come later?

Be nice to start some planning.

Thanks

Alan, as an interim answer to your question, at the bottom is a copy of the spreadsheet from the navigation points I used from Google maps to document the route.  The display is not too convenient on the Forum, but if you persevere it will get you started.  Also below is a link to Google Maps to get the 2 separate sections I had to use for planning. Click on these and it should produce both halves of the route.

Everyone that has entered and whose entry is showing status live on the entry table should have received a  welcome email from me containing a welcome letter and the provisional route and timetable.  Where this email has gone to multiple recipients, to maintain privicy, I have used the Bcc facility.

I am getting reports that some entrants have not received welcome emails.  If you have not received one please will you let me know either by email or on this thread.

Thanks, Chris

Although Club Torque stated that there could be up to 40 entries in the Coast 2 Coast and we have now reached that number, there may be the possibility of starting more than 40. Also we will need some reserves as unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, a few entrants are likely to have to drop out; so please keep those entries coming in.
