Nick B. Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 I am catching a plane bach to denmark monday. Does anyone know a place to sleep near the plough? Preferably not too expensive. Perhap under a table in the plough?? ;)CheersNick
Tim Bancroft Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Roy Lacey is attempting to sell a room at the nearby Travelodge, just after the M25 on the A10.Should be another thread elsewhere.

Nick B. Posted September 21, 2008 Author Posted September 21, 2008 Ah - yes - 22 miles would be abit more than preferred. I am lookong for something in walking distance if possible. And I had seen Roys thread - but that was from thursday to friday - I am lokking for sunday to monday.Well - if there is nothing in walking distance from the plough, I will probly just grab a can to stansted and find a BB there.Am I correct when assuming Stansted is no further away than 30ish miles?CheersNick
ferny Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Stansted is 30 miles away.http://www.multimap.com/maps/?qs=EN2+9DJ&countryCode=GBThat's roughly where The Plough is - between j24 and j25 of the M25 if that helps. This place is 6 miles away; http://www.welcomebreak.co.uk/FindHotel/SouthMimms.htmThis is under 3 miles away;http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_book/hotel_overview.php?hotel_id=339And this just over 3 miles away;http://www.4hotels.co.uk/uk/hotels/enfieldh.htmlI've never used any of those three, I just had 10 minutes free to use google.

James Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 I am sure someone will give you a lift - or else you can always order a cab.A cab will be about £30 to Stanstead.

My plane does not leave till monday, so I think I will pass. Last time I slept on the chairs of stansted I was completely knackered for a week :(I will try to book the Travelodge Cheshunt Hotel, once I can get my creditcard to work properly grrrrr.CheersNick
Nick B. Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 Sofar this monday has been miserable. Upon spending a fair amount of my weekend trying to book a room at the chesnut travellodge, I gave up as they kept declining my VIS-card.Phoned the bank this morning. After waiting 10 minutes on hold, I got through. Only to be redirected to their socalled support. After another 5-10 minutes of more on-hold crap music I got their support, who kindly told me, that they did not operate the now upgraded "verified by VISA", but I had to call the PBS customer service. YAWN - another 10 minutes on hold. Finally got through to someone who knew something. They could see in the logs that the Travellodge had sent a request, and the had got a positive feedback from my card. How it got translated into a declined payment they could not tell me.Last resort - I pick up the phone and call directly to the hotel. Alas - another 10 minutes mindless rambling of on-hold marketing shite (to minutes from DK to UK on a mobile phone equates to 3 quid - not happy!) And yes - I could book the room - but I could not get the superduper internet discount. Suddenly the room went from 29 quid for a night to 50 quid.At this time I hung up. Partly because I am a cheap sod, but also because there is NO WAY I am going to pay 21 quid extra cause their internetsolution is crap.Compared to booking a room - actually doing RBRR is going to be a piece of cake :-/CheersNick
James Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 `There must be a hotel near Stanstead... then you can get a lift and stay the night close...
Nick B. Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 Thanks I have succesfully booked comfort hotel Enfield now. A bit dearer, but at least the accepted my card. Pissed of with travellodge. They certainly lost my business :(Still - now I am set pretty close to the plough - can grab a cab whenever I feel like it.I am not in a rush monday - plane does not leave untill 13.50.Looking forward to seeing you allCheersNick
Nick B. Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 Actually, I wouldn't mind a lift in a TR7. Never tried one of those!Been through most triumphs. Still needs to try TR6 and TR7 and acclaim. Plus ofcourse the roadster1800, but that will probably never happen :(CheersNick
