I've started this thread to highlight major road works along the RBRR route.

The two major road works are on the A1 from Dishforth to Leeming just north of York and the M80 (Junction 4) from Haggs on the M80 to the M73 (Junction 3) south of Stirling going past Cumbernauld.

Due to the time we pass through the works, the A1 will probably be pretty quiet.

However, the A80 may be quite congested.  I travel through this twice a day to go to and from work, so have plenty of experience of these road works.

The latest traffic management update for the A1 can be found here: http://www.highways.gov.uk/roads/projects/24060.aspx

The latest traffic management update for the A80 can be found here:  http://www.transportscotland.gov.uk/projects/m80-stepps-to-haggs/traffic-management

Be aware that both sets of road works have average speed cameras, 50mph on the A1 and 40mph on the A80.

I drove through the A80/M73 junction last night and it's not well signposted, so get into the inside lane well before the M73 so that you don't miss the motorway access.

If you do miss this junction, continue on the A80 to the A752 at Muirhead and access the M73 at Junction 2A.

In addition, due to the new interchange being built there, many of the existing minor roads are gone and new temporary roads replace them and they aren't on the map.  So, don't be tempted to go cross-country on the back roads.

There are also road works on the A30 close to the breakfast halt at Scorrier in Cornwall.

Some roads in the area are closed but Tim is already aware of this, so I'm sure he has a cunning plan to circumvent the closures.

Details are available here:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/local/cornwall.shtml

There are also temporary traffic lights at Builth Wells at the junction of the A470/A483 - if we go that way.

There's also temporary traffic lights on the A483 at Four Crosses in Wales due to long term drainage works.

However, at the time of night that crews pass through, the delay should be minimal.
