Propshaft Shortening

For an overdrive conversion, does it make sense to have the existing propshaft shortened or could I obtain another propshaft & have that shortened in advance in readiness for the conversion?

I seem to recall reading somewhere that it would cause balance problems if you take a propshaft from another car.

(Or maybe I dreamed it)

There should be no balance problem if you take one from another car...as long as that one was properly balanced..........
I would shorten your existing one and have it balanced afterwards. You probably end up with a far better balancend one then when Triumph made them or from a scrap car.
