GreenV8Machine
ok chaps, ive got a spitfire mk3 with the diff ready to come out apart from the rear main bolt through the diff. It spins round freely but wont budge sideways. Ive tried brayin the shoit out of it with a sledgehammer and burning it with a blow torch. Tried removing the bolt head but the chisel keeps punching a larger hole in ze chassis.any other ideas? :-/
Clive
Grinder is difficult too. I guess WD40 and keep at it with the hammer. The metal bush sleeves must be very solid on the bolt :(
GT6Steve
Man, you're screwed! :'( I wish I had an easy solution. As has been noted, the steel bushes are rusted to the bolt. It's almost a body off job at this point. Can you get a Sawz-all in there and cut the bolt on each side of the diff ears? I think not but it's about the only thing left. Do you have a spare diff housing or one of the alloy ones from Canley's?
GreenV8Machine
HAHAHAHAHHAAfeel my wrath!went and got my mate milwalkee saw. I cut a pug up with it the other month. uppy downy blade will fit just between chassis and housing. Gunna chop le bolt into bits iff i can get em in. New diff awaitng transplant. Clive
Good thinking!Thought about hacksaw but not enough space, so a reciprio saw sounds a very good idea.
billspit
Instead of grease use anti-seize.
