THERMOSTAT TEMP IN GT6

Velocita Rosso

Recommended Posts

By how much , on the temperature gauge, would it show if a thermostat with a lower operating temp was fitted.
I have found out that we have fitted a thermostat with 88 degrees operating temp
Since , the engine has run ,or shown on the gauge as over 3/4
If we fitted an 82 degree operation stat , how much cooler .or on the gauge would it be ?
Any body had any practical experience ?

My experience is with a gauge that has numerical markings on it. When I got the car it had an 88 degree thermostat fitted and the needle sat at just under 90 degrees. Now I have an 82 and the stat sits at just under 85 degrees. So they are pretty accurate I reckon! However, driving in very hot weather over a mountain and it sits at 95 all the time.

by ewp i presume you mean electric water pump,if so it is not advisable to run with a thermostat as it will make the pump run more than it needs to and could cause it to fail prematurely, unless you fit a low temp stat which should be fully open before the pump operates at full capacity.best bet in the cold weather is to blank off part of the rad with no stat fitted.
