volospian
I've just reconnected the center console, but now the cigarette lighter light stays on. When I roll the rheostat it dims slightly, but the panel lights all get brighter. I assume I have a live wire brushing metal somewhere and causing a short.I don't know if it's related but the handbrake light won't go off, even when I've removed the switch from the handbrake itself.Anybody have any ideas where to start?? volospian
OK. I've got that problem sorted but I have two more now :)1. The Brake Fail warning light is on and stays on. Anyone have any ideas how to troubleshoot brake failure lights?2. Does the oil light only come on when the car is low on oil, or is it supposed to light until the engine is started, like more modern vehicles?Any help would be appreciated :)
Dave w
Hi, both the brake fail light and the oil light should go out when the engine is running, the oil light works on presure not on oil level.the brake light also works on preasure check the wire on the presureswitch you will find it by the near side wheel arch. nibby
Volosoian, back in the mid 80s i had a differant stag to the one ive got now and i remember changing the oil pressure switch on that one because the light would not go out under tickover .But do not run motor until problem has been rectified just in case.I hope its a cheap fix. volospian
Cool, that's the brake fail light probably sorted then. The oil light is not coming on at all. I'll check the bulb first, then the switch and see where we go from there :)Thanks for the replies 8)
