Dannyb
After fitting my new flywheel and clutch after the crank bolts came loose on the RBRR and locked everything solid. I have now found out the starter motor is burnt out. I have now a new high torque starter on it's way from SC https://www.scparts.co.uk/sc_en/high-performance-starter-motor-1-142714.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAm5viBRD4ARIsADGUT26rM93RDcvzdL5IxcvAZT_iuztAJDVQWVoAqTdn7DY4Rum12lO-SyIaAmofEALw_wcB But nobody from SC can tell me if I need the spacer or not. I suppose I will have to do some measuring. Has anyone on the forum fitted one of these from SC. Spitfire 1500
Tim Bancroft
Danny, I would measure if I was you. Remember there are two sizes of spacers available.
Dannyb
Thanks Tim, I will measure it but I did not know there were 2 sizes for the spacer.
Dannyb
Fitted the starter today. After measuring it turns out the standard 1500 spacer was spot on. Looks like the starter front plate is machined to give the correct clearance with the standard spacer. Also the orientation of the starter with the front plate is also already correct.
