If you have a 6-pot I'd recommend one, especially if high compression. I don't think they are quite so necessary on a 4 pot, although possibly more on a souped up 1500.


I have one on the PI Spitfire, one on the Stag and the wife has one on her 2000 Estate.

Hello Kim,

if you have plenty of cash to spare, fine but on a good condition car a standard starter does the job quite well. My 10:1 compression engine has had no problems with a standard starter for the last ten years.
