  1. It plays for me but that's probably because it's on my personal YouTube channel. Damn you, the copyright holders of Michael McDonald's "No Lookin' Back". It's becoming more and more of a problem to find catchy music that most folk recognise that's not been copyrighted, not by the artists but by a faceless company. I'll maybe re-edit it and put different music on the one section that's affected. To be honest, it's not the best video due to a faulty camera mount, we later discovered. Jim.
  2. A clear run through Glen Coe on the 2018 RBRR This link may not work as I had problems trying to upload it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Egk9reJVAhE

It's been on Facebook for some time that the new website is live. Perhaps the MIA's are having trouble logging on? An explanation on the Club Triumph Facebook page may help those in difficulty. Jim.
  4. Found this after watching Sam's video. Jim.
  5. Where would we be without a "Tracy Island" in a Round Britain? Jim.
  6. Where's all the team names? Part of the fun of the event. Jim.
  7. Here's one from the before the cars started at Knebworth in 2018 taken by my daughter, Katy. Jim.
  8. Why is Tim not letting you start in the Pony? I've never seen a Pony. I feel a campaign coming on #lettheponyrun or #thatsaloadofpony. Jim.
  9. What a lucky shot! Was the van badly damaged after the helicopter crashed into the back of it? Jim.
  10. And a handsome fellow you are too, sir. It's all a bit new and will take a bit of use before we're all comfortable with it. It is similar to other forums which will be an advantage to those who are on them but it is so much better than it's predecessor. I think we'll grow into this format and perhaps return to having fun on the Forum. Jim.
  11. Just seen the size of Tim's signature. Do you think that he's compensating for something? Just sayin'. Jim.
  12. Pete, Basically the big end bearings were on their way out with a fair bit of knocking from the engine. Whoever rebuilt the engine had made a bog of it. The bottom of the sump had a layer of sludge (the bearings presumably), the oil pump either wasn't working properly or partially blocked by the sludge. The centre of the cylinder bores was wider than the ends necessitating a salvaged engine block. Every time we went deeper into the engine, there were more horrors. It was rebuilt by a race engine builder at McFaddens Classic Cars in Motherwell and is still being run in. I got the car back just before lockdown. Done about 500 miles on it since with no problems, so here's hoping for an engine event free Round Britain. Might go back to the exhaust that came with the car when I bought it as the standard one is a bit weedy. Jim.
  13. Ah, works now. Welcome to the world of the Scotch Pie Hunter. Going to try to make it smaller now. Jim.
  14. Just tried to set a signature with a jpg file. It didn't show up on my previous posts. See if it works on this one. Jim.
  15. "This Week With Cars" is a favourite of mine particularly the stuff he did with Frogeye Sprites, since I've got one too and the "Will It Start" stuff with the two TVRs he has. Always fancied the older TVRs since a guy had one in Lenzie where I grew up. Sounded a real beast. "High Peak Autos" is another I watch. Some of the cars are a bit dull but he comes up with some nice motors that you've maybe had a guilty pleasure in always having a soft spot for them even if you'd never buy one. "Planet Spitfire" is an old channel but no longer updated run by a guy called Paul Geithner, who has a little engineering knowledge as he's a project director on the James Lovell Telescope for NASA. He gave me the inspiration for the wide stripes on my Spitfire after I found his channel donkeys years ago. Always admired his green Spitfire. One that a few here will have visited is our own Club Triumph channel. I go there to watch RBRR videos. I do spend a fair amount of time surfing for other RBRR videos too, some good, some a bit tedious. Not a fan of going 1000mph up the A1(M) in the dark. I like the Rowbottoms videos and also Howard's 2016 Start to Blyth and also Peter Raemens 2016 RBRR in his PeterR channel. I also go to AdamC's channel to watch the various official and unofficial car meets. He sounds a bit "Made In Chelsea" but he has a genuine love of cars and a wealth of knowledge that he shares with his viewers. Even saw Andy Cook's GT6 in one of his videos. Forgot to add "Harry's Garage". His trip to London in his yellow Lotus Elan and his trips across Europe in Jaguars and a Lotus Esprit and his trip to the Sahara in a Ferrari Testarossa make this channel stand out. Jim.
  16. Less then 6 months to go till the start at Knebworth for the much anticipated, delayed 2021 RBRR. So what have you to do to your car yet? Here's mine. Triumph Spitfire 1500, Car No. 5: Fit brake servo unit. Re-torque head and change oil after engine rebuild. Fit relay for lights, uprate bulbs and fit new chrome bezels. Small amount of bodywork repairs - small bubbles at bottom of driver's door, spot of rust on bottom of sill below the passenger door and a few scratches and stone chips. All the major work had been done previously before lockdown such as the engine rebuild and then it sat in the garage for months. Looking forward to better weather and the chance to rack up some decent mileage before October. So, what about the rest of you? Jim.
  17. It's not as if the Forum has just had another re-vamp that makes it even harder to navigate and even less useful, though.  Oh, hang on .....  Oh the irony. I love these threads. Reading posts from people defending the indefensible, ignoring the facts and blindly chuntering on that Club members should be using a forum that, in today's media world, just doesn't cut the mustard. It's too easy to wind you guys up and while away a few hours. Harking back to when we had a brilliant forum that was fun to use and then criticise members for not using something as pleasant as a tooth extraction makes no sense. This is a great club let down by poor decisions in the past, lumbering us with a forum that even those who made those poor decisions never appear on. We were sold a pup and we've all suffered due to it. No one's coming back - the alternatives are much more attractive and easier to use. No slow speed.  No waiting days for a response. Honestly, would you give up your Triumph for a horse and cart because that's basically what's on offer. Jim.
  18. I've seen plenty of posts on here about Facebook harvesting data and because of that, they would not use it but you're right, it's not really the point. Facebook does something extremely well that this Forum doesn't - people post on it. Not with gaps of days between posts but in minutes over the last weekend with all the RBRR fond memories of years past. Facebook is not the place for asking technical questions that can be accessed years later, that's what a forum is for. The Club Facebook pages, and I remind you that they are Club Facebook pages, are well supported whereas the Forum appeals to virtually no one. Unfortunately, what we're discussing here is a Norwegian Blue. It's not sleeping - it's dead. But, it seems, we have a few pet shop owners who are inclined to disagree. Jim.
  19. Oh look Mum - the declining few! Not being an advocate for Facebook - don't have too. The numbers of CT posts in the RBRR Banter page compared to here speaks for itself. But sorry, I forgot - you're all so worried about your intimate browsing details being harvested, you won't be able to see all the action on Facebook. Yes, it's terrible all this harvesting by Facebook. Totally unlike what Google, Bing, your credit card company, your bank and every other company you interact with. Funny how you were looking at starter motors in Rimmers website, then all those starter motor adverts popped up in your e-mail. But yes, you're right. Naughty, naughty Facebook. Time to wake up guys - you ALL have a footprint you can't hide from. Jim
  20. The RBRR, Club Triumph's flagship event, would have been running right now as I type this. Stacks of posts on Facebook and loads of good-natured banter. And the Forum?  Nothing.  Nada.  Not a whisper. The facts speak for themselves. The revised forum has taken too long. There's no way I can see the forum being anything other than a technical reference but so few people now visit the Forum that it's will be of little use due to the low number of site visitors. With the flourishing Whatsapp group and the various dedicated Facebook pages, I think we can confidently say that the Forum has become irrelevant to all but the declining few who cling on forlornly. Sad but true considering what we had before it was updated. The update effectively killed it. And we have posts on here moaning that the change of date wasn't posted on here. For who? Who's here to read it? Jim.
  21. There already is a dedicated Facebook group that is only for confirmed RBRR entrants which is managed by Andy Pearce.   Jim
