  1. Does anyone know if these ones with active dwell are better. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-850-1000-1100-1275-electronic-ignition-for-45d-distributor-/111011040594?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19d8c60d52
  2. You will probably have to pay tax. Unless you can get it sent as a present.

I fitted these about two and half years ago, fitted and forgot and a damm site less acu spark !!! http://www.mm-4x4.com/britpart-electronic-conversion-kit-2720-p.asp Simply replaces the points and condenser Thats the one I also fitted 2 years ago and no problems. I always carry the old points and capacitor in the boot just incase.

  6. Try this link for size...all you need to know. http://www.team.net/www/morgan/tech/electrical/wipers/2speed/2SpeedWiperMotor.html
  7. Don, What size battery did they supply.
  8. Janie, You can fit the battery anyway round. Infact I think it's best if the +ve terminal is at the back away from the battery clamp. This is the one o bought with Clives recommendation....very pleased with it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330858314711?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

    propshaft noise

You can do it without taking the drive shafts out. Get it up on axle stands. but wear safty glasses, you dont want one flying off into your eye.

I had knocking and could find no play at all. so changed all the UJ's and still had knocking.  So I then put in thicker cerclips and the knocking disappeared. Try fitting a G-clamp on the UJ so it moves it hard against one circlip and see if you can get a 2 thou feeler gauge in between the other circlip and the UJ. If you can then thicker cerclips may be the answer.
  11. via the ignition. Didn't want any surprises with my head and hands in the engine bay with the ignition off. I have left the viscose on the pump and will keep the old fan in the boot. Just in case the electric one packs up.
  12. Done it. Fitted the replacement thermostat housing which I tapped with a 3/8bsp thread. and fitted thermo switch  part number ICP-EFS5270    92C - 87C . All wired via a relay with an override switch on the dash. Flushed  system and replenished with Coma antifreeze.   Removed the mechanical fan and started up. Temperature rose past the point where the mechanical fan used to keep the engine temperature which was halfway between 1/4 and normal. It went just past normal and the electric fan kicked in which pushed the temperature back to normal. If I operate the override switch it drops the temperature below normal. Only problem at the moment the heater has an airlock.
  13. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330858314711?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 New battery ordered from above Thursday and on my doorstep when I got home from work last night. Not bad for standard post. I'm working Sat & Sun so will fit it Monday. I have nothing against Halfords. Yes they are dearer but if you need something quick there ok. But seeing how quick this battery arrived and the price, it's Ebay for now on with batteries.
  14. New Bosch battery ordered should be with me Monday or Tuesday
  15. Lucky it was the side towards the wall of the garage and away from the car and me. I thought I'd dig out the Halfuds receipt thinking it it might be in the 2 year warranty. It's nearly 4 years old. how time flies.
  16. cliftyhanger wrote:Unusual for a battery to split like that. Could have been a spark igniting the hydrogen :-/ not nice at all. But can happen to any battery. Anyway, my current (get it) battery fav is the 063 supplied by eurocarparts. Bosch 4yr. They have just put the prices up, but I got one via ebay for £40 delivered. Check the website too, they were £35 after the discount code. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330858314711?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 (just checked, £10 cheaper via ebay) Thanks Clive,  Thats the one I'll go for.
  17. Looking on Ebay for a new battery. Am I right thinking 065 will fit with the terminals at the back.
  18. Battery been on trickle charge while laid up. Went to start the Spity and it just about turned the engine. So I connected a battery booster and just got in the drivers seat when there was a bang and it caught fire. I had to quickly disconnect the terminal and take the battery out. I've washed the battery tray out as it had a load of battery acid in it. Don't know if it had a short across one of the cells ????? Last Halfuds battery I buy.
  19. This is mine. same as but you can see the bracket is smaller and at a different angle.
  20. I have the same on mine but the bracket is different. Should be smaller bracket than the clutch.
  21. It's not just the cooling. I have never had overheating problems. But I was thinking by removing the mechanical fan it would save a little on petrol and also make the engine quieter.
  22. Still not done mine yet. Thinking of tapping the thermostat housing to 3/8 bsp but need to find a switch with the right temperature range with that thread before I start. Also while I'm at it I will fit the stainless steel under manifold pipe that I have had for 4 months.
  23. Bad idea. Not that I have rebuilt a gearbox. But I thing the principle is the same when changing sprockets and chains. Always use new sprockets with new chains.
  24. Are you also using the yelloow damper springs.
  25. This is the thread I was talking about......it's all there pics the also. [Sorry, link no longer available]
