  1. Successful visit to the rolling road, approx 170bhp at the flywheel. That should be enough for me
  2. some more miles to do tonight before loading the car on the trailer ready to head for the rolling road tomorrow morning
  3. It lives, new bearings fitted and oil pressure is fine. It appears the crank has had a grind at some point in its life which I was unaware of. I fitted standard bearings  :B the new ones are now slightly oversize. So rolling road tune on wednesday then the rally on the 7th. Think I'd best get at least a few miles on the engine before the rolling road session and give it an oil change.
  4. Some new big end and main bearings on order. It had new bearings fitted A fellow motor club member has now got the car to sort it, I'd given up at the weekend.  So may still be on for the rolling road and the rally :)
  5. Well engine in everything connected fired up straight away  :)   but oil pressure is only half what it should be  :'( So not looking good for the rolling road on the 3rd and the rally on the 7th  :(
  6. More done, exhaust wrapped and fitted and another shiny new part.
  7. That little bonnet scoop should help to get cold air to the carbs
  8. The exhaust manifold all ready for some new wrap to be fitted
  9. Head one along with oil pump and water pump
  10. He actually gave me my money back. The one I'm using is completly standard, no additional balancing done, this is what I had in my last engine for a number of years with out a problem. They are pretty good as they come from Vauxhall.
  11. Bugger, had man who did the crank machining on the phone telling me not to use the crank. He has had a couple fail. Pleased he told me before I actually built it and used it. So engine will be built with the standard crank, which is still good to rev to 8000rpm when fitted with ARP big end bolts. Fitted crank last night, the build will continue this weekend.  Got rolling road set up booked for 3rd July.
  12. Ideally I'd like it to be 180 to 190 but realisticly in the real world probably be 160 to 170. Crank and flywheel are now balanced, getting collected on Wednesday I think. So Wednesday night i'll try and get the crank into the block, maybe even rods and pistons too.
