  1. The heater hoses are connected the same as my Mk1 2L. The front hose is a little bit to long if it worries you then cut a bit off the end. Mine has a blanking plug on the head.
  2. Howard I have Just watched the first ten minuets and its brilliant. As I was parked opposite you in the car park I am glad you didn't catch me picking my nose or worse 😁 Loved watching you chase my Vitesse and your engine noise speeded up is great. I will look forward to watching the rest this evening. Mark
  3. Not quite sure what you mean regarding the rotor arm perhaps you could take a photo. But my money would be on stale petrol causing your problem.
  4. Lack of oil in the dashpots might cause this.
  5. The Vitesse at Barrington. Quite an ecliptic mix of cars from Vintage to modern.
  6. Whats the point unless the likes of China come on board anything the UK does is just sticking plasters.
  7. I do hope this will be voluntary and not some compulsory P/C gone mad quest the club is on.
  8. But how can you plan your strategy when the race director changes the rules during the race?
  9. Have you ever driven an automatic? Well you don't lift off or use a clutch on one. Infact on kick down you have your foot flat to the floor, but the gear change mechanism is the same principle as OD. So you can probably guess No I don't use the clutch or lift off, as others have said the great thing about OD is you can use it while overtaking for a quick gear change, then on twisting roads 3rd gear and OD is a dream. The only reason I can see for using the clutch is if your OD or gearbox is knackered possibly due to an oil leak!
  10. My MK1 Vitesse has had the under body fuel line replaced with 5/16 at sometime in its past so I have 1/4 from tank 5/16 under the body, back to 1/4 into the fuel pump and 1/4 from the pump to the carbs. The previous owner had just used 1/4 fuel hose and forced it onto the 5/16 fuel pipe. When I replaced the fuel hose with ethanol proof hose I used the appropriate size hose for the pipe and brought 1/4 to 5/16 brass adaptors off Ebay to connect the 1/4 to 5/16 hose together. Mark
  11. One of the issues I was told by a gearbox repairer is the D type overdrive uses a spring to return the pump plunger and this puts a constant pressure on one side of the mainshaft causing uneven wear on the small tip bearing. This was resolved on the J type by using a ring to return the pump plunger therefor putting pressure although alternating on both sides of the mainshaft. But unless you use your classic as a daily driver the mileages most of us do in our classics I wouldn't worry about it.
  12. Hi Jason. I can tell its engaged by the engine revs and the position of the leaver or switch if it on the gear stick unless its dark. But then just move the leaver and you will soon find out. I can't see a point of a light on the dash but its your car and if that's what you want to do then go for it. O/D is great on winding roads as you can keep the power on while changing though there are some that say you shouldn't do this. I have a great blast up Hartside pass this year mainly leaving the car in 3rd and using the O/D. Mark
  13. I fitted what TSSC said was the correct hose for 1/4 pipe at the tank and front end. I also have 5/16 under the car and they supplied the correct hose for this as well. Not sure what the mm size is and its to cold to go and investigate. I always use clamps I wouldn't trust a push fit on it own. Thanks for the comment re my Vitesse. The spot lights are made by Ring, I used to have them on my first car a Vauxhall Viva and then later on my Austin Agro in the 80s. They then spent 30 years in a box in a barn till I found them again and fitted them on the Vitesse. There are photos on the CT gallery. Cheers Mark
  14. I have used barricade for a year now and no problems yet. You can buy it from Moss or the TSSC shop. Discount for TSSC Members.
  15. I did have the same problem on my laptop in the spring of this year and I found opening the link in a new tab solved the problem. Then one day it started working properly and has been fine ever since. As for the Scrapman using Apple products😵 I thought twin 8" floppy CPM based systems was more your style.😉
  16. What you need is after market heated seats. ♨️
  17. Hi Chris Is that a definite on the date 25th/26th June? I am on-call that weekend so will need to swap it and the earlier I ask for someone to cover me the higher the chance I will find someone who can do it for me. Cheers Mark

    Club Magazine

Does the mailing company send out all the club magazines at the same time or is it just crap post in my area. A fellow CT member who lives 45 minuets from me received his on Wednesday but the post has delivered today Friday and I still have no magazine. Mark
  19. Managed 37mpg in the Vitesse on the C2C pushing it fairly hard most of the time though the trip up the A1 to the start and back to Cambridgeshire was at a more steady 65-70 MPH. Interestingly on the last RBRR the 2500 TC only came in 1 MPG lower than a couple of 2000's I compared it with. 28 and 29 mpg from memory. The thought was the 2000 had to be pushed harder than the 2500 especially on the hills. At the end of the day its not about MPG its about SPG. ( Smiles Per Gallon)
  20. But do you have to fix it? What is to stop someone MOT exempting the car after the fail and continuing to use it? Yes It would not be road legal but ANPR would see it as having an MOT, only if the car was stopped on in an incident would it show up as having defects. For the record I still put my cars in for an MOT and would fix any defects found before continuing to use them. Mark
  21. Is it possible to pre order and pay for the RBRR T shirt ahead of the drivers briefing. Just asking as another crew will be picking up our drivers Pack. Thanks Mark
  22. I don't know how many miles the engine has done but there is no top or bottom end noises that I can hear so it would suggest its not excessive. It has been suggested it could be sticky rings due to lack of use over the last 10 years and I was told to put some diesel in the bores to see if it releases them. I will give that a try once I have done the compression tests. Thanks for you comments Mark
  23. Thanks for you comments its as I thought. I am picking a compression tester up on Monday so there is not a lot I can do till then. Final question its a Mk1 2.5 Pi on SU's I know I can take the head off in situ but can I drop the sump and remove the pistons or is it the block out job. Thanks Mark
  24. If it is just failed rings would I get away with just fitting new rings or would I be looking at a re-bore, new pistons etc?
  25. What are peoples thoughts on what is wrong. It also smokes from the dipstick. 20210820_163945.mp4
