  1. Echo the big thank you to everyone involved and especially to Chris. We had a great time despite the weather though I did rather enjoy the trash up Hertside pass in the torrential rain. Some great roads and the Vitesse despite my best efforts to vandalise the radiator two days before the rally never missed a beat. We even achieved 34mpg over the total of 866 mile door to door and with out even trying to drive economically. Mark
  2. Its only lost about a couple of table spoons full over night so I am going with it as it is. Water and Radseal packed just in case. Hoping to have lots of fun🙂
  3. The Vitesse is all prepped, polished and ready to go. All needed to to do is work out how to attach the rally plates. So I experimenting 2 hours ago with a old rally plate trying to tease a cable tie out from just in front of the radiator and the next thing I know is I have coolant pouring out of the front of the radiator. Panic stations and a lot of swearing at my stupidity the wife comes running to see what has gone wrong expecting to see me squashed under the car. Luckily I have a spare radiator but its completely untested and in an unknow condition. 1 1/2 hours later the spare radiator has been flushed and fitted and a test drive even getting stuck in a traffic jam for 10 minuets after a fast run it is cooling perfectly. But it does seem to have a tiny weep in the middle the question is Radweld or go with it as it is. Panic over. Mark
  4. Hi Chris Yes you may do what ever you want with it. Thanks Mark
  5. Hi everyone doing the C2C. As I mentioned the other day I have put some notes together regarding fuel stations that are open on the C2C. There is a 71 mile and a 142 mile section with no open fuel stations so hopefully my notes will stop you running out of fuel in the middle of nowhere. As mentioned By Chris its probably not relevant for the larger cars especially his TR7😉 but those of us with smaller fuel tanks it could be tight. Please feel free to use as you see fit. Chris has also asked me to point out that the A168 might be closed overnight south west of Thirsk. If this is the case then please use the A61. Thanks Mark Rutter C2C Fuel Stations.docx
  6. I am putting something together regarding this hopefully publish it in the next couple of days. The section from Penrith to Ripon is a 130 miles and no open fuel stations. Mark
  7. Google maps shows a Texaco in Alston that according to its web page is 24H. Mark
  8. Hi Chris Running a HCR a few years back in this area I found a complete lack of 24H petrol stations in the Durham and Yorkshire dales. I am not sure if this is still the case but I would suspect it is. I did recommend to crews to fill up before entering these areas and having a spare can in the boot. This might be something you want to consider mentioning to the crews. Cheers Mark
  9. All jabbed and Lateral flow tested. Try and keep us away.
  10. I see no reason for it not to go ahead as long as we follow the rules. Other events are already running and I have already taken part in a scatter rally back in April with a Tulip rally the weekend before the C2C. I suspect that like myself many of us are already lateral flow testing twice a week already. Mark
  11. The engine is the cars soul, The sound of that smooth straight six climbing up through the revs, The popping from the exhausts on over-run. Dropping down through the gears, hearing the synchro's spinning up as they engage and the whine of the layshaft. The smell of the oil (engine and gearbox) and dust on the hot engine, the vibrations coming through the floor and if you drive at night all this gets heightened to a even higher experience. For me this is what driving is all about. I have driven a few electric cars for work, my brother-in-law has a Tesla, They are soulless metal boxes just designed to take you from one place to another and not involve you in the experience of driving the car. Yes they have lots of gimmicks just google Tesla Model x dancing! but they are just gimmicks to be played with and tossed aside the next week. Yes they are fast but I would rather drive a slow car on the limits rather than a fast car that's within its limits. Then there is the joy of fixing the engine and endless tinkering under the bonnet. Putting a electric motor in our cars will just turn them into another soulless metal box so you might as well just buy a new car with a heater that works properly. Mark P/S my brother-in-law after 4 years is getting rid of his Tesla and going back to a Range Rover I think that says it all.
  12. Called in yesterday on our way home after few days visiting Lincoln. Bumped in to Andrew Dutton a Cambridge TSSC member in the carpark and then found Darren Sharp washing up in the café. A great little museum and a chance to have a natter with some other Triumph enthuses. And Darren, Yes Jamie can put away food like it's going out of fashion and he is growing out of his clothes faster than a speeding Triumph.
  13. Unfortunately the Banks, Rutter team won't be entering this event. Mike is currently indisposed, as for myself it clashes with my son's birthday and Fathers day. Mark.
  14. Thanks Howard the files have been received. Cheers Mark

    Prop shaft UJ'S

Thanks Mike I thought they where. A few laps of Snetterton was to much for them. Luckily not spinning in the yokes so no damage done. Cheers Mark
  16. Hi does anyone know if the UJ'S on the prop shaft the same as on the drive shafts. It's for a Mk1 2L Vitesse. Thanks Mark
  17. Hi Chris That's what I thought but I though I would check as there is a box for it when the entry is edited. Thanks Mark
  18. Hi Craig Laptop, on Windows 10 and Chrome.
  19. Hi is it just me or other people having problems with the "More" menu option on the home page. If I hover the mouse over the More menu I get the first drop down menu showing Events and Classifieds. But when I click on either option I just get the very top couple of millimetres of the next dropdown menu. The only way I can access this menu is but clicking on the " Coast 2 Coast 2021 event entry now open" in the forum and then clicking on this link https://www.clubtriumph.co.uk./c2c/regulations at the bottom of the page. and then the full events drop down menu shows correctly. Please can the Web admin help. Thanks Mark
  20. Entry was straight forward though it did site on the payment screen saying processing for a couple of minuets but it got there in the end. On the team information page it is asking for MSUK licence number. I have a MSUK licence but I am not sure if my Co driver does. I can find no mention in the regs regarding needing one. Please can someone clarify this point. Looking forward to this event. Thanks Mark
