  1. This looks good, I might get a kit for my Herald. I've got Halogen lights fitted in my Herald, so a Relay kit would really be a benefit. What would I need to order for my car then? I seem to remember someone once suggesting running the heater fan through a relay to get maximum power out of the fan. Seeing as mine is a NOS heater box I'm wondering if this kit could be adapted to the fan too?
  2. Sorted now it's been explained to me. This is why I always advise people to stick to one supplier and build a rapport with them. I've been using this supplier primarily for 10 years now and I've never had an issue.
  3. I too think I have the wrong sender and have emailed the supplier to hopefully get the issue resolved. I thought initially that it looked different because of the use of modern parts etc, but looking at photos of ones on the various websites and suppliers pages the new ones are exactly like the originals. I'll wait to hear back from the supplier, but as you point out, I shouldn't have to bend it.
  4. I've got a new sender for my Herald, but it's very different to the original. It's got three connections on it and the arm moves differently to the original. I'm guessing I'll need to bend the arm to match the original one, but which connections do what? Has anyone fitted these?
  5. Thanks Steve!!! I haven't got a Heritage Certificate for my car at the moment, but I'll get one in due course. Your information has helped me out a bit though, putting possible locations to the car's origins.
  6. Hi Steve, Could your new booklet tell me what Triumph Dealers there were in the Exeter area? My car started her life there before she started to make her way up the country. Thanks, S.
  7. I had the same issue with my set, the holes are a pain. I plan on covering them with something, a plate with a badge on or something.
  8. I tried one of the cheap electric fans on mine, but it was pants. It couldn't keep the engine cool in British summertime so I don't know how it would have coped in Spain! I've got the factory metal bladed fan on the car currently. Ideally you do need to fit the proper Kenlowe fan as they're tried & tested, but as mentioned space is limited significantly between the rad & engine. But as mentioned you should look at what different radiators you could fit to the car.
  9. So six months after I asked the question, I finally got round to getting this done! I did it with the car on axle stands and it seemed to go well, time will tell. If there is a puddle under the car when I next see it then I'll know something isn't right. My old diff seal was a leather one, and I had to call an expert to ask if I was on the right track. After I got the new one in, it all went back together well and I followed the advice given here about bolts through the couplings. She finally moved under her own power again for the first time since May! Next visit to the car I need to reconnect the Overdrive wiring and refit the tunnel cover, then the interior can be refitted. Yay! 😎
  10. I've got a D-Type overdrive fitted to mine, it's got the inhibitor switch on there which itself was refurbished when the box was rebuilt. If the OD disengages itself when I move to 2nd then that's great and I needn't worry about fitting a buzzer. I didn't know that's how it worked, so I've learned something new. Thanks For All the advice and replies.
  11. I appreciate what you're saying, and I'm not trying to make it modern either. I'm trying to save myself making a potentially expensive mistake. I've just paid a man in Coventry £500 to rebuild my gearbox, which to me is a lot of money. I don't want to have to do this again so anything that can help prevent this I'm game for. Some of the trucks I drive have buzzers built in to let you know you've moved to low range of have the diff locks in. I'm not 100% sure how the system functions on these cars, but I imagine the O/D would stay on if you moved out of 3rd to 2nd without disengaging the O/D. My idea was to have the buzzer sound if you did do this, somehow using the O/D sensor on the box? These warning buzzers aren't modern ideas either, my friend's 1956 Chevrolet Buzzes if you leave the lights on.
  12. Hello Chaps, I was musing over Herald matters this morning whilst drinking my coffee and I begun to think about an "Overdrive On" warning device. I checked out what others had done and I've seen a wide array of warning lights. But I wondered if it might be possible to also fit a buzzer? The idea being it would sound if I were to leave the O\D engaged and move the selector away from 3rd & 4th. We have a similar thing fitted on some of the buses that warn us the doors are open with the handbrake off. Anyone have any ideas what would need to be done to achieve this? Its just a little idea I had. Thanks S.
  13. That's probably where it all started going wrong! 😀 I doubt I'll get anywhere near the Heritage centre for some time, I'll get there one day though and finally get the answers to some questions I've been wondering about for 10 years!
  14. I didn't know that you could go through their archive, I'll have to see if I can get there at some point to have a look myself. I'm quite curious about the supplying dealer for my car and when it was built.
  15. I have the TR6 one on my car, I feel that the original script is a bit antwacky for a 1971 car so I updated it.
  16. Thanks Marcus, I'll get one ordered today.
  17. Hello All, Just wondering if anyone knows off the top of their head what size the big castle nut is on the diff on a Vitesse? I need to do the pinion seal & need to obtain the appropriate sized socket. Thanks S.
  18. Well I got my first look at my replacement flywheel today, as I had it sent to my Mum's where the car is currently kept. It was in good condition but I still cleaned the front face up and removed the surface rust off the rear side. I fitted it to the crank, then fitted the clutch and now all is well with the world again. Thanks For all the help!!
  19. There was no oil in there anywhere, it was dry as a bone in fact! I do hope I haven't disturbed anything!!   🤔 I too hope it all goes smoothly, just need to do the pinion seal on the diff and she can move by herself again.   After that it's literally just snagging and she can present for MOT in Spring. 😉 😎
  20. Thanks for the offer Paudman, but I've already paid for the one from Spitfire Graveyard and it'll be at the house on Monday. Regarding the painting, I wasn't sure if they were painted from new or anything. I was just trying to give everything the best protection whilst I have access. I'll clean it up as good as I can get it then. I like neatness, but I'm not so bad I'd polish the bell housing.   Thanks Chaps!
  21. When I took my old flywheel off, it was quite rusty on the rear side of it. Would I be ok painting it on the rear side and cleaning up the clutch side with the wire brush on the drill? Sounds silly wanting to paint a part that is hidden, but I like neatness!
  22. OK I've found one for £25 which sounds like a good deal to me. I'll keep my original one as a spare. When I get the replacement I'll clean it up nice and clean. Thanks For the input chaps!
  23. Engine Number is: HC51***HE I've emailed a few suppliers and breakers, waiting for responses. It's times like this I really miss Max at Totally Triumph being there, it was literally 20 minutes away from my house.
  24. Hello Chaps, Thanks for the responses. It is the 6 bolts that hold the clutch plate on, I really should've been a bot more clearer. 5 of the 6 holes are fine, so I may look at the suggestion of having the 6th hole tapped for a bigger bolt. I only have 2 locating lugs on my flywheel, and others I've seen have 3 so it looks like one of mine has been broken off at some point. Finding a replacement wheel is proving difficult. Would one off a MK1 2000 fit or a GT6?
  25. Hello Friends! I'm in desperate need of a flywheel for. 2 Litre Vitesse. I've just picked up my refurbished gearbox & brought it home all fired up to fit it. However on fitting a new clutch one of the bolts snapped & was trapped inside the wheel body. I took to to a local engineer to have it removed & ive ended up with a bigger hole. I'm not happy with this so need a replacement. Has anyone got one spare they'd swap for some pictures of the queen? Thanks S.
