  1. I just bought a set for mine, they are plentiful. Here is the size I bought: 3/8" thread 5/8" sleeve nut. You'll need washers too I imagine.
  2. I'm going to use the set of tufted black carpets my car came with, they're not in the worse condition. Seldom used in fact. I attacked them with the Dyson, 8 years of being stored on top of a cupboard in my garage, and whatever muck was on already nearly filled the cylinder!!!

Plus I've been doing it round a full time job that demands around 60 hours a week, and sometimes on a limited budget. But I'm there now, so close!!! Yes John, I'll love her more once I get a drive!!!
  4. I'm nearly at the end if my Vitesse into a Herald build, and do you know what? I wish I'd left it as a standard 13/60. The trouble, delays and expense it's caused is unreal, but I'm there now. Nearly...
  5. I have the Canleys system, it's a beautiful system, polished to a high shine. There is a youtube video of the Canley system that shows how it sounds.
  6. I have a spare 150CD but it will require rebuilding, if you are up for that. PM me if you are interested. Where are you located?
  7. Where are you located? I'm interested in the soft top frame as there are bolts I need off it.

    Carb sought

I fixed this today, I tapped the hole in the carb to a M6 thread, and used an M6 bolt with an adapted sleeve I made for the shoulder. It works, and the car runs and drives. I promised to return and teach her how to do a service, as the car would benefit from new plugs, coil, leads and a dizzy tune.

    Seats for Herald

Rover 25 and 45 seats will fit too as they are more or less the same as the MGF in their design. The good thing about some of the 45 seats are they are heated, which is a nice little stealth mod for a Herald. I have the standard 13/60 seats in mine, but I rebuilt them completely with new stronger webbing for the seat backs, new sponges for the backs from Newtons and had the vinyl repaired by a Trimmer associate of mine. I find the Standard seats very comfortable though, but I'm not yet "creaking"  8)

    Carb sought

Thanks Nang, I'll let you know. I've managed to find out that the same carb was fitted to the Vauxhall Viva in the UK and there are a couple on ebay uk, albeit a bit rough looking. A brand new one is £175 but I don't think she will want to pay that much. I'll keep you posted. S.

    Carb sought

Hello chaps, Can anyone help me? I'm in touch with a student nurse who drives a 1200 herald who's carb is broken. She needs a Solex B30 PSE1 and I'm just wondering if anyone has a spare going at a reasonable price. Believe it or not she drives it daily so she's out of action transport wise. Thanks S.
  12. Keep at it! It's Cyril is looking the business! I'm impressed by your work and your discipline. Well done!
  13. I've actually got a Halfords Trade card & it's amazing the difference in price it makes. I bought a pair of H1 bulbs for my modern & the shelf price was £12.50, with the card at the till they went down to £3.50! If I wanted the filament bulbs for indicators etc, most cases they go to less than a £1. It makes oil changes cheap, but in other areas it doesn't make much difference & it's only for using for service items, so car wash products etc don't come into it. For car parts & things I use specialists or motor factors. It's still a shop with the token dopy teenagers working there though. I once asked for a part for the Herald, and after he looked on the database he said "there's no such car as a Triumph" I said there is, there is one in my garage he said "it's probably a kit car". After I spoke to the manager, they found Triumph listed under Rover, along with all the other BL companies. I was only after an ignition coil, which if I wanted they'd had to order. I left it & bought from Canleys instead seeing as they'd be quicker posting than Halfrauds ordering one.   S.
  14. I remember seeing period film footage once of cars driving round London during the night once in the 60s, more or less all of them had their side lights lit, and headlights off. I questioned this to my Granddad who was sat with me, and he said that it was to save the batteries because Dynamos couldn't charge very well. I'm not arguing here, just thought I'd mention this little memory.
  15. I've got a Vitesse 2 Litre engine & radiator fitted to my car, so the rad is bolted to the chassis.
  16. Just a quick question: What is the general thoughts on the engine bay panels? I notice there are a lot of cars out there that don't have them fitted, and some that do. I need to decide if to refit mine or not, they are in good condition and free of rot. Do they do a good job of keeping muck out or are they not really needed? Thoughts also about brake fluids, what is the preferred one? Traditional DOT 4 stuff or the silicone stuff? A friend of mine raves about the silicone stuff, but another is very disapproving of it. Thanks Chaps S.
  17. OMG! What a find! I'd love that 13/60 Courier van combo. It looks like there's quite a few spare parts there, is all what I can see in the pictures yours? If so you are very lucky to have come into ownership of all these cars and parts.
  18. This was how the bulkhead was when I bought the car, I had seen a lot of other Heralds with the same sort of set up so I thought it was right. I think a nice chrome finisher would look nice like fitted to Jaguars etc.  8)
  19. I fitted them to mine and they look nice. The holes were already there on my car so I thought I'd add them. They don't come with holes pre drilled, so the best thing to do is drill a bigger than needed hole to give you some room to move it about if you need to adjust it's position or anything.
  20. Cut it out & when you replace it do it in sections. This is ok if you're not going for concours.

    Rear Trim Help

Yes they do, but I'm not prepared to pay that much for something that someone may have surplus to requirements. Prices new are around £100 each, which is far too much. I'll make my own versions minus the pattern before I'd pay those prices if I'm honest.

    Rear Trim Help

I need the vinyl part, that's what has gone in my case. The board is easily replaced with other materials.

    Rear Trim Help

Hello Chaps,                  I am just wondering if anyone has any spare trim? The bits I need is the rear seat panels in black for a 13/60 Convertible. I pulled mine out today to clean them up ready to go back in to the car, but they have deteriorated badly over the last 7 years they've been on the shelf. I think someone has spilt something in the garage and not let on.   Can Anyone help? Many Thanks, Stu.

    Tail Fin Chrome

Good Stuff, thanks Colin. Also are the tail lamp units sided, or are they too universal?

    Tail Fin Chrome

Hello Chaps I was just wondering if the chrome V pieces on the rear fins are handed? Is there a left & a right one or does it not matter where they go? Ta, s
