  1. "limited experience of doing this kind of work" Well, I for one am impressed with your work. Have you ever thought about doing other peoples?

    New Engine

Have you modded the combustion chambers?
  3. Are you sure its a crack? I noticed when I was fiddling with the different angle you can get from lifting out the fuel unions that the small 'O' ring was easy to unseat. Take them both off and have another go at putting them back paying attention to the 'O' rings.
  4. I'd entrust it to a windscreen fitter.

    New Engine

    Phoenix collector...I modified mine.
  6. I used two thick rubber washers between the bulkhead and Huco clamp, secured with large, short self tappers. Some people don't mount on rubber. I got a handwritten note from the Huco supplier stating err...I think 3 or 5 amp fuse but can't find the note, so piman is probably correct. I'm giving up on the fuse box and will look for a green wire, there's one at the wiper motor so I'll try that. I'm after neatness and don't want dangly bits all over the place. Markcro - you need to take your fuel pump power supply from a source that is switched off when the ignition is off, that will stop your pump from running. Good place for your engine radiator fan wire is from the white coil wire. Unless you want it running while its switched off, in which case I assume it has a reliable thermostatic switch.
  7. Had a look at the fuse box but can't see how to remove/add wires, there doesn't seem to be any screw or plugs to loosen. I'll have an in-line fuse in the power supply to the Huco.
  8. I'm in the process of trying to find a white wire under the dashboard to connect up to. Safety switch makes sense. Mine is on the bulkhead, someone else has fitted it in the space where the old mechanical pump was but see where you have the room and how the fuel lines will run.
  9. First attempt at finding the start had me off the coast of Somalia. Google maps require Latitude first then Longitude, the opposite to that in Andy's email.
  10. I found the original wheel too big and too hard so bought a smaller leather rimmed Mountney wheel from the TSSC shop, and excellent it has been too!
  11. "Thanks for the picture Don, what do you think of the pump performance? Is it ok?" Ahh...haven't used it on the road yet.
  12. Mine's on the GT6 bulkhead, also means I cab easily route the pipework to the rear of the engine.
  13. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360758769989?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I got mine from these people.
  14. I used Kastner's book (too lazy to go upstairs and look for its title), its the thin red one. I also read Irving's Tuning for Speed. In reality all I did was to smooth out the steps where the port's milling came to a halt and blended it all together, as Kastner suggests by inserting an inlet valve down the inlet ports. I also, as per Kasner, took the sharp edges away from the combustion chamber. Its worth paying attention to the inlet manifold: you can see daylight through 4 of the inlets so removing an internal wall on the two you can't can help. Someone did this in The Courier...Tony Lindsay-Dean??? On the photp you can see where I ground metal from (marked in blue), also a scribed ring where I machined the inlets to suit SU HS6s.
  15. You will have to re-set the float heights. The manual states that the gap between the top of the float and body of the carb should be 18mm. You can only really do this if the carb is sitting upside down.
  16. The introduction to the 10CR 2015 is clear: "the proposed route taking in Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia,  and on to Italy for the first overnight stop. Following a well-earned break, weÂ’ll continue into Germany for our second stop, then on Sunday, weÂ’ll (sic) make our way back up to our final overnight halt in Kerkrade" So what is this all about: "Perhaps some had not picked up the rumours about visiting Poland. Slovenia has also had a mention as well as Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary."
  17. AndyF wrote:There is no secret about the route. The main stopping points have been published and it is now up to each team to decide how they are going to get there and drive through 10 countries doing it. For those who do not manage to find a route before the event a recommend route will be offered nearer the start of the event. Cheers AndyF I'm confused. What you are saying is that from Aachen to Cortina and then to Ulm and then Kerkrade all entrants make their own routes up or wait until nearer the event when a recommended route will be offered?? So, there is no secret because there is no route???? I have been to the Event section of this forum and looked at the 'Route'; its empty? There you go Mike.
  18. I suppose that we've all made a decision on hotels/crossings etc by now; whether we do it early or closer to the time. But the one thing that will engender interest is to give details of the route...Triumphs and where we're going; that's what sums up the 10CR! Personally I'd like to know the route, even if its just the major towns we're driving past, I'd like to peruse a map in the evenings leading up to the event. Why does it have to be a secret?????
  19. Mr Martin, been a long time...Brugges if I remember correctly? Still got the V8?
  20. You don't say whether fuel is getting to the carbs...are they wet? It might be that the fuel isn't getting into the float chamber if the float has not been fitted properly (they might be closed all the time). Have you done anything else to the car, changed leads, rotor-arm, distributor cap, changed points. If you have then, no offence, they might not have beed put back in the correct order. Are you getting a spark at the plugs...undo one and put the cap on it and let it earth on the engine, you should see a blue spark. Photos of the engine always help, some on the near-side and offside. Close ups of the carbs I'd take Steve up on his offer if I was you.
  21. To your credit Martin you fail to mention that the 2003 event was free, even better because you presented me with a whole set of marked up maps!

    Seats enq

MX5 seats may have speakers in the headrest but don't be impressed with them as once under-way you can't hear them. Speakers need a big box hence fitting them to doors and panels.
  23. Still have to level it and tidy the fuel pipes.
  24. Yep, I have 175/70x13 on Minator alloys.
