  1. I have fitted a HUCO (as in the recommend above) and mounted it on the bulkhead, its bigger that the ebay picture. You can move to pipe connectors to any position you want. Seems quiet enough.

Would/should there be a similar thing when a crankshaft is machined?

What does one look like, how's it used?
  4. Not sure that's what you do to balance the carbs as both throttles are held together by the spindle. You first have to slacken the spindle clamps then set the throttles and when balanced tighten up the spindle clamps. I use this sort. Why not call the Area Organiser in your part of Kent and ask if anyone might be able to help?
  5. And, of course, GT6 drivers and passengers can always join the 'shorts' club of which several members of this forum are fully paid up!
  6. I suspect the real problem of cooling a GT6 is underdevelopment by Triumph! So, given the GT6's cooling problems is the 2000cc, 6 cylinder, fastback, sexy bonnet really worth it...well, of course.
  7. Also think about what the water pump is doing at tickover, not going too fast. Electric water pump with a thermo switch would compliment an electric fan. Mechanicals...daft isn't it, when the cooling needs most help it doesn't get it, when it needs it least it has masses of help???

Having just fitted them to my GT6 I hope they are the best available. Don'tcha just hate driving with your fingers crossed.

    Seats enq

If you send me your details I will forward to you (or anyone else for that matter) a 'word' doc that runs to several pages on how to fit MX5 seats to a Spitfire. I would imagine it wouldn't be too different to a Herald. doncook@hotmail.co.uk
  10. "...plus you can laminate diagrams for reference and doesn't matter if you spill oil, coffee or beer over them" Steady on, I love my car as well but...
  11. Bill at Rarebits does a nice harness with correct connectors.
  12. Have you tried jump-leads from another car yet?
  13. Where are you? Might be worthwhile finding your local area meetings. We love photos here.
  14. Mine is now round the back but then I have a Huco electric pump on the bulkhead.

    MX5 Seats

MX5 recline and tilt forward and at 6' (almost) I don't have any headroom problems.
  16. Hi Hutch.Good to hear you are still in GT6 ownership. as am I. I wonder if Mr Wake might have one laying around his estate (property not a car)?
  17. Can't seem to detect where I'm getting the play on the outer column. However, I took off the steering wheel, horn disc and stalk switches and cut the rubber lugs off the existing top bush. Now, how to knock then down the tube? We looked everywhere for a tube that would slide down between the actual column and the outer column. Then my son spotted my daughter's bike and said "What about the seat tube?". This could have been made for the purpose, slides down just right, a bash on the top and the old bush slide down. The new bush was knocked down using the tube and the lugs liners up. Job done. I'll have another go at the outer column...but I'm having to do it by feel. Hhmmm...perhaps a mirror, I'll raid Sarah's make up bag!

This is one of the guides I used for my GT6. Just needed to adapt a little for a GT6. http://www.spitfires4fun.com/8.html
  19. I'll happily drink Bill's beer on his behalf and thereby keep the 'tax' in the EU. You can always bring some beer over with you Bill...yank beer...yeah right.
  20. Mine is like that and I'll be doing this in a couple of days when I have somebody more able to get under the dash. I will post what happens. Oh, by the way; its never failed an MOT on this??
  21. Changed my original 'hard' steering wheel for leather as the first long trip produced blisters on my hands! And, no, no code here.
  22. My alternator fried my battery on a motorway in Belgium...back in 2002. I was collected and taken to a garage at about 6pm and they had a new battery and alternator fitted by 9am the next morning. Footman James paid for everything other than the parts and labour, even an extra night in a hotel and extra for the ferry. No idea where it happened but we found a bar that night that sold home-brew wheat beer. What a night!
