Excellent suggestion John I see the posts here and across The Book of Face and feel not a little envious of you all girding your loins for the upcoming adventure. What with The Colonials hot-footing it across the pond and Nik whizzing down from Denmark etc- it has all the hallmarks of another great CT event 🙂 Stay safe and have a great time- keep the posts and updates coming.

Oh blimey- I didn't realise you crazy kids were there on the Wednesday- I assumed (dangerous...) it was one and the same day! Sadly, there's no way I can get there on the Wednesday due to work commitments(and I don't mean a big cake needs eating in the office).

I am off work that day and coming back from an overnighter in Halifax with brother. If I remember, I will try to get over here in the afternoon to see what's going-on. 🙂 This wont be on the track as it were, but in a spectator capacity.

What an excellent idea! Silly question but I presume its open to non-members to purchase? I'd be happy to await the initial rush of CT members before my transaction goes through, if nescessary

The wire through the gear lever shaft to the O/D switch on the gear lever knob, should have an outer insulating sleeve. These often wear through or are not replaced by the PO- this usually manifests itself with a comedy intermittent electric shock through the hand to the gear lever shaft! The OD selector swicth itself in the gear lever can also be problematic. I seem to recall it was easier to buy a new replacement switch with its specific matching connectors to the switch (quite a strange type: are they still available?) on the short electrical wire tails.

Always nice to see pics of the cars prominent in the classic car media- particularly Roy's fabulous GT6 but, I can't help feeling disappointed at the loss of written information at the expense of the size of the image  :-/  

What colour is your cars's interior? I have a set of red leather bespoke MX5 covers in Red, with the GT6 horizontal fluting so they look like the high back (USA?) GT6 seat.  Never fitted or used so as new.  :)

Just wanted to say very well done to all the participants of the single best Triumph event of the year. The efforts of those who made it and those who were unable to finish are to be applauded. I have spent a great weekend watching your progress on-line and thoroughly enjoyed seeing you coming in through Gordano (its Gore-day-no for those unsure!  ;)) I massive thank you to all who organised and volunteered their time so this could be held- well done all  :)

Top one for me is the imposing Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge. Go there on a bleak winters day- quite moving. The Jesus and Mary Chain- Never Understand on departure. Elbow- Grace Under Pressure for returning. It's a toughie for departure as you'd like it to be a wheel-spinning "so long suckers!" departure into the sunset, but it's actually a tickle out of the car park almost in convoy, then waiting at the lights to join the crawl up the the A10, begfore you can get some wind in the hair driving going. :)

Hi Phead- I did attend a CT meeting at The Compass Inn at Tormarton in 1996! It was just me and a guy in a 1300 Toledo if I remember rightly? I'm Triumphless these days, but do enjoy dipping in and out here to see how you're all getting on :)

Swap or stop- I like it Andy!  :) Definitely an individual choice and I respect anyone erring on the side of caution, far better that than potential snooze-ville disaster. I did it as a 3 man crew- very enjoyable and easy in reality, although we were all itching to drive most of the time! I found 2 man crews far more rewarding due to increased driving/navigating involvement. Having driven all legs of it now, I felt no desire to stay awake to 'enjoy' Wales as it were, I communicated my intention to the driver , we agreed he'd sit behind another car. If you've listened to the Gaydon instructions, read your notes, done your prep and homework: you will already have a clear understanding with your crew (2 or 3 person- makes no odds) of swap or stop etc. You all should have an awareness of the route anyway, obviating the need for navigator being awake :) There is always the fall back safety option of 'Sat-nag'...  

Thought it was The Clunie Inn! I've driven around there loads of times over the years but never in a Triumph. When i 1st went there, the roads had yet to be properly upgraded to their current status. I tended to have canoes on the roof and kids in the car (or the other way around?) and be in some 'family' car or other. Once the roads were upgraded, all I wanted to do was revisit in my GT6 but it never happened. Off to Ardnamurchan again next April- bring it on!  8) The RBRR's done stand pretty high on the list of good times had in Triumphs- that's not an invitation for Tetbury's finest to lower the tone ;)

Ouch. Agree with above observations. Not had a TR so unaware as to whether it'll fit...
